### Run setup script via CLI

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Make the setup script executable and run it with the DaVinci Resolve installer path. Replace the paths with the actual locations.

```bash
chmod +x /path/to/setup.sh
```

```bash
/path/to/setup.sh /path/to/DaVinci_Resolve_versionnumber_Linux.run
```

--------------------------------

### Example list-gpus output

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Example output of the list-gpus command (wrapper for switcherooctl list) showing the detected GPUs. Use the Device: # line to determine the index for the GPU you want switcherooctl to use.

```text
Device: 0
  Name:        Intel Corporation Meteor Lake-P [Intel Arc Graphics]
  Default:     yes
  Environment: DRI_PRIME=pci-0000_00_02_0
```

--------------------------------

### Run setup script via GUI terminal

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Run the setup script from the terminal after enabling 'Executable as Program' in file properties. Replace 'version' with the actual DaVinci Resolve version.

```bash
./setup.sh ./DaVinci_Resolve_version_Linux.run
```

--------------------------------

### Run setup-davinci in container

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Run setup-davinci from within the container. The suffix at the end is for the add-davinci-launcher script; if omitted, setup still runs but launcher addition won't work.

```bash
distrobox enter davincibox -- setup-davinci squashfs-root/AppRun distrobox
```

```bash
toolbox run --container davincibox setup-davinci squashfs-root/AppRun toolbox
```

--------------------------------

### Install mesa-libOpenCL and run DaVinci Resolve with rusticl

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Install mesa-libOpenCL inside davincibox and launch DaVinci Resolve with rusticl. The -c flag specifies the binary path; omitting it defaults to DaVinci Resolve.

```bash
sudo dnf install mesa-libOpenCL
# If you exclude the path below, run-davinci defaults to launching DaVinci Resolve.
# If you want to launch one of the other programs included with Resolve,
# use the path to its binary as shown below.
run-davinci -c /path/to/binary
```

--------------------------------

### Extract DaVinci Resolve installer

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Extract the DaVinci Resolve installer on the host using the --appimage-extract flag. Replace the path with the actual installer location.

```bash
/path/to/DaVinci_Resolve_version_Linux.run --appimage-extract
```

--------------------------------

### Update drivers in container

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Update drivers in the container after setup. Use the distrobox command if using Distrobox, or the toolbox command if using Toolbox.

```bash
distrobox enter davincibox -- sudo dnf update
```

```bash
toolbox run -c davincibox sudo dnf update
```

--------------------------------

### Install Speed Editor udev rules on host

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Run on the host (outside distrobox/toolbox) to install the udev rule that grants the active local desktop user read/write access to the Speed Editor's USB and HID interfaces via uaccess. The 70- filename is intentional to set the tag before 73-seat-late.rules applies the access control list. After running, unplug and reconnect the Speed Editor.

```bash
sudo install -D -m 0644 host_files/etc/udev/rules.d/70-davincibox-speed-editor.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/70-davincibox-speed-editor.rules
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
```

--------------------------------

### Switch davincibox audio from PipeWire to PulseAudio

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Use this when the host system uses PulseAudio instead of PipeWire. It removes the pipewire-alsa plugin and installs alsa-plugins-pulseaudio inside the davincibox container to redirect ALSA audio to PulseAudio.

```bash
> distrobox enter -n davincibox
> sudo dnf remove pipewire-alsa
> sudo dnf install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio
```

--------------------------------

### Create davincibox for Intel and AMD users

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Create a davincibox container for Intel and AMD GPU users. Use the distrobox command if using Distrobox, or the toolbox command if using Toolbox.

```bash
distrobox create -i ghcr.io/zelikos/davincibox-opencl:latest -n davincibox
```

```bash
toolbox create -i ghcr.io/zelikos/davincibox-opencl:latest -c davincibox
```

--------------------------------

### Create davincibox for NVIDIA users

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Create a davincibox container for NVIDIA GPU users. Use the distrobox command if using Distrobox, or the toolbox command if using Toolbox.

```bash
distrobox create -i ghcr.io/zelikos/davincibox:latest --additional-flags "--device nvidia.com/gpu=all" -n davincibox
```

```bash
toolbox create -i ghcr.io/zelikos/davincibox:latest -c davincibox
```

--------------------------------

### Set Exec line for Distrobox with rusticl

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Modify the Exec= line in DaVinciResolve.desktop to launch DaVinci Resolve with rusticl via Distrobox. Add -c after /usr/bin/run-davinci for other programs.

```bash
Exec=distrobox enter -n davincibox -- /usr/bin/run-davinci -c /opt/resolve/bin/resolve %u
```

--------------------------------

### Set Exec line for Toolbox with rusticl

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Modify the Exec= line in DaVinciResolve.desktop to launch DaVinci Resolve with rusticl via Toolbox. Add -c after /usr/bin/run-davinci for other programs.

```bash
Exec=/usr/bin/toolbox run -c davincibox /usr/bin/run-davinci -c /opt/resolve/bin/resolve %u
```

--------------------------------

### Set default GPU for switcheroo-control

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Replaces # with the appropriate GPU index determined from the list-gpus output to tell switcheroo-control which GPU to use by default on multi-GPU systems.

```bash
sudo sed -i "s,switcherooctl launch,switcherooctl launch -g #," /usr/bin/run-davinci
```

--------------------------------

### Add user to plugdev group for USB licence key

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Adds the current user to the plugdev group to allow hot-plugging the USB licence dongle during a live login session. Run after placing the udev rule.

```bash
grep -E '^plugdev:' /usr/lib/group | sudo tee -a /etc/group
sudo usermod -aG plugdev $USER
```

--------------------------------

### Uninstall davincibox with Distrobox

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Removes the davincibox container and its launcher when using Distrobox. The first line is optional during an upgrade.

```bash
distrobox enter davincibox -- add-davinci-launcher remove
distrobox stop davincibox
distrobox rm davincibox
```

--------------------------------

### Uninstall davincibox with Toolbox

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Removes the davincibox container and its launcher when using Toolbox. The first line is optional during an upgrade.

```bash
toolbox run --container davincibox add-davinci-launcher remove
podman container stop davincibox
toolbox rm davincibox
```

--------------------------------

### udev rule for USB DaVinci Resolve licence key

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Place this udev rule in /etc/udev/rules.d/ (recommended name 90-davincibox-usb.rules) to allow unprivileged users to access USB-based DaVinci Resolve licence keys. It works if the dongle is plugged in before login; for hot-plugging, you may need to add yourself to the plugdev group.

```udev
# Place this file in /etc/udev/rules.d/
# Recommended file name: 90-davincibox-usb.rules
# Provides access to USB-based Davinci Resolve licence keys to unprivileged users.
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="096e", MODE="0664", GROUP="plugdev", TAG+="uaccess"
```

--------------------------------

### Remove Speed Editor udev rules on host

Source: https://github.com/zelikos/davincibox/blob/main/README.md

Run on the host to remove the Speed Editor udev rules. After running, unplug and reconnect the Speed Editor.

```bash
sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-davincibox-speed-editor.rules
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
```
