### Single WPSL Store Template Example (Twenty Fifteen Theme)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/create-custom-store-page-template

This is a comprehensive example of a single store template file for the Twenty Fifteen WordPress theme. It includes header and footer inclusion, post class, entry header with the store title, and the main entry content. The content section dynamically displays the map, store details, appointment URL, and directions link using WordPress and WP Store Locator functions.

```php
<?php
/**
 * Example of a single WPSL store template for the Twenty Fifteen theme.
 *
 * @package Twenty_Fifteen
 */
get_header(); ?>
    <div id="primary" class="content-area">
        <main id="main" class="site-main" role="main">
            <article id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>" <?php post_class(); ?> >
               <header class="entry-header">
                    <h1 class="entry-title"><?php single_post_title(); ?></h1>
                </header>
                <div class="entry-content">
                <?php
                    global $post;
                    $queried_object = get_queried_object();
                    // Add the map shortcode
                    echo do_shortcode( '[wpsl_map]' );
                    // Add the content
                    $post = get_post( $queried_object->ID );
                    setup_postdata( $post );
                    the_content();
                    wp_reset_postdata( $post );
                    // Add the address shortcode
                    echo do_shortcode( '[wpsl_address]' );
                    // Show the appointment url
                    $appointment_url = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_appointment_url', true );
                    if ( $appointment_url ) {
                      echo '<p><a href="' . esc_url( $appointment_url ) . '">' . __( 'Make Appointment', 'wpsl' ) . '</a></p>';
                    }
                    // Create the directions link.
                    $address = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_address', true );
                    $city = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_city', true );
                    $country = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_country', true );
                    $destination = $address . ',' . $city . ',' . $country;
                    $direction_url = "https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&daddr=" . urlencode( $destination ) . "";
                    echo '<p><a href="' . esc_url( $direction_url ) . '">' . __( 'Directions', 'wpsl' ) . '</a></p>';
### Get User IP Address (PHP)
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/show-distance-miles-us-based-visitors-kilometers-everyone-else
This function retrieves the IP address of the current website visitor. It checks various server headers to accurately determine the IP, handling cases where multiple IPs might be returned. This is the first step in geo-locating the user.
```php
/**
 * Get the user IP.
 *
 * @return string The user IP
 */
function wpsl_get_user_ip() {

    $ip      = '';
    $headers = array( 'HTTP_CLIENT_IP', 'HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR', 'REMOTE_ADDR' );

    foreach ( $headers as $header ) {

        if ( isset( $_SERVER[$header] ) && $_SERVER[$header] ) {
            $ip = $_SERVER[$header];

            if ( $ip ) {
                break;
            }
        }
    }

    // HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR can return a list of IP's instead of a single one.
    $ip_array = array_map( 'trim', explode( ',', $ip ) );

    return $ip_array[0];
}
```
### Request All Autocomplete Data - PHP
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_autocomplete_options
This example shows how to configure the `wpsl_autocomplete_options` filter to request all available data from the Places API by setting the 'types' to an empty array. This enables broader search capabilities, such as searching by street addresses, but may increase billing costs due to more data retrieval.
```php
add_filter( 'wpsl_autocomplete_options', 'custom_wpsl_settings' );

function custom_wpsl_settings( $settings ) {

    $settings['types'] = array();

    return $settings;
}
```
### Customize Store Header Template with Conditional Logic (PHP)
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_store_header_template
This PHP code snippet shows how to customize the store header template with conditional logic for displaying store URLs. It uses the 'wpsl_store_header_template' filter and Underscore.js templating to either include a link to the store if available or just display the store name. This example is for when store permalinks are disabled.
```php
add_filter( 'wpsl_store_header_template', 'custom_store_header_template' );

function custom_store_header_template() {

    $header_template = '<% if ( wpslSettings.storeUrl == 1 && url ) { %>' . "\r\n";
    $header_template .= '<h3><a href="<%= url %>"><%= store %></a></h3>' . "\r\n";
    $header_template .= '<% } else { %>' . "\r\n";
    $header_template .= '<h3><%= store %></h3>' . "\r\n";
    $header_template .= '<% } %>';

    return $header_template;
}
```
--------------------------------
### Hide WP Store Locator Start Marker with PHP Filter
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/hide-start-marker
This PHP code uses the 'wpsl_js_settings' filter to remove the start marker from the JavaScript settings. Place this in your theme's 'functions.php' file to prevent the start marker from displaying on the map.
```php
add_filter( 'wpsl_js_settings', 'custom_js_settings' );

function custom_js_settings( $settings ) {

    $settings['startMarker'] = '';

    return $settings;
}
```
--------------------------------
### Underscore.js Templating for WP Store Locator Info Window (JavaScript)
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_info_window_template
This code illustrates the Underscore.js templating syntax used within the WP Store Locator info window. The `<% ... %>` tags are for executing JavaScript logic, while `<%= ... %>` tags are for printing JSON data directly into the HTML. This enables dynamic content rendering based on the store's data.
```javascript
<% if ( my_textinput ) { %>
<p><%= my_textinput %></p>
<% } %>

<%= createInfoWindowActions( id ) %>
```
--------------------------------
### Hide WP Store Locator Start Marker with CSS
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/hide-start-marker
This CSS rule targets and hides the start marker image in WP Store Locator, assuming a red marker. Adjust the 'src' attribute if a different marker color is used. Add this to your theme's 'styles.css' and clear caches if necessary.
```css
#wpsl-gmap img[src*="red@2x"] {
    display: none !important;
}
```
### Customize WP Store Locator Listing Template (PHP)
Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/create-featured-store-that-shows-up-first-in-search-results
This PHP code snippet demonstrates how to build the HTML template for displaying store listings. It includes logic for showing contact details (phone, fax, email) and distance information, along with conditional rendering based on plugin settings.
```php
$listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '</p>' . "\r\n";

    // Show the phone, fax or email data if they exist.
    if ( $wpsl_settings['show_contact_details'] ) {
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<p class="wpsl-contact-details">' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% if ( phone ) { %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'phone_label', __( 'Phone', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= formatPhoneNumber( phone ) %></span>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% if ( fax ) { %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'fax_label', __( 'Fax', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= fax %></span>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% if ( email ) { %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'email_label', __( 'Email', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= email %></span>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '</p>' . "\r\n";
    }

    $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . wpsl_more_info_template() . "\r\n"; // Check if we need to show the 'More Info' link and info
    $listing_template .= "\t\t" . '</div>' . "\r\n";
    $listing_template .= "\t\t" . '<div class="wpsl-direction-wrap">' . "\r\n";

    if ( !$wpsl_settings['hide_distance'] ) {
        $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<%= distance %> " . esc_html( $wpsl_settings['distance_unit'] ) . "" . "\r\n";
    }

    $listing_template .= "\t\t\t" . '<%= createDirectionUrl() %>' . "\r\n";
    $listing_template .= "\t\t" . '</div>' . "\r\n";
    $listing_template .= "\t" . '</li>';

    return $listing_template;
}
```
```

### Underscore.js Template Syntax for Info Window (JavaScript)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_more_info_template

This snippet demonstrates the Underscore.js template syntax used within the WP Store Locator's info window. It uses `<% ... %>` for control flow (like `if` statements) and `<%= ... %>` for printing data, enabling dynamic rendering of store details.

```javascript
<% if ( phone ) { %>
<span><strong><%= phone_label %></strong>: <%= formatPhoneNumber( phone ) %></span>
<% } %>
<% if ( fax ) { %>
<span><strong><%= fax_label %></strong>: <%= fax %></span>
<% } %>
<% if ( email ) { %>
<span><strong><%= email_label %></strong>: <%= email %></span>
<% } %>
<% if ( hours ) { %>
<div class="wpsl-store-hours"><strong><%= hours_label %></strong><%= hours %></div>
<% }
<% if ( my_textinput ) { %>
<p><%= my_textinput %></p>
<% } %>
```

### Geocoding API ZERO_RESULTS Response

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/searched-location-never-returns-results

This is an example of the response returned by the Geocoding API when it does not recognize the provided location.

```APIDOC
## Geocoding API Response
### Description
This JSON structure represents the response from the Geocoding API when a searched location is not recognized.
### Response Example
```json
{
  "results" : [],
  "status" : "ZERO_RESULTS"
}
```
```

--------------------------------

### Bulk Enable Comments for Store Posts in WordPress

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/create-custom-store-page-template

Updates the comment status for all posts of a specific post type ('wpsl_stores') to 'open'. This SQL query is executed once on initialization using `add_action('init')` and should be removed from `functions.php` after it has run to avoid repeated execution. It directly manipulates the WordPress database using `$wpdb` global object.

```php
// Remove after reloading the page.
add_action( 'init', 'switch_on_comments_automatically' );
function switch_on_comments_automatically() {
    global $wpdb;
    $wpdb->query( "UPDATE $wpdb->posts SET comment_status = 'open' WHERE post_type = 'wpsl_stores'" );
}
```

--------------------------------

### Create Custom Search Widget Template (PHP)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/search-widget

This PHP code defines the HTML structure for a custom search widget. It includes fields for search input and category filtering, and hooks into actions for further customization. This code should be placed in 'custom-widget.php' within your theme's '_wpsl-templates' folder.

```php
<?php
$search_widget = new WPSL_Search_Widget();
if ( $template_data['category_filter'] ) {
    $category = $search_widget->create_category_filter( $template_data );
}
?>
<form action="<?php echo get_permalink( $template_data['page_id'] ); ?>" method="post" id="wpsl-widget-form">
    <?php do_action( 'wpsl_before_widget_input' ); ?>
    <p>
        <label for="wpsl-widget-search"><?php echo esc_html( $template_data['search_label'] ); ?></label>
        <input type="text" name="wpsl-widget-search" placeholder="<?php echo esc_attr( $template_data['search_placeholder'] ); ?>" id="wpsl-widget-search" value="" >
    </p>
    <?php
    do_action( 'wpsl_after_widget_input' );
    if ( isset( $category ) ) {
        echo $category;
        do_action( 'wpsl_after_widget_category' );
    }
    ?>
    <p>
        <input id="wpsl-widget-submit" type="submit" value="<?php _e( 'Search', 'wpsl-widget' ); ?>">
        <?php if ( $template_data['manually_locate'] ) { ?>
            <span class="wpsl-icon-direction" title="<?php _e( 'Use your current location', 'wpsl-widget' ); ?>">&#xe800;</span>
        <?php } ?>
    </p>
</form>
```

--------------------------------

### Generate Google Maps Direction Link (PHP)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/create-custom-store-page-template

This PHP snippet demonstrates how to create a Google Maps directions link using store address details retrieved from post meta. It constructs a URL that, when clicked, opens Google Maps with the store's address pre-filled as the destination. Ensure the 'wpsl_address', 'wpsl_city', and 'wpsl_country' meta keys are correctly populated.

```php
                    // Create the directions link.
                    $address       = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_address', true );
                    $city          = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_city', true );
                    $country       = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_country', true );
                    $destination   = $address . ',' . $city . ',' . $country;
                    $direction_url = "https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&daddr=" . urlencode( $destination ) . "";
                    echo '<p><a href="' . esc_url( $direction_url ) . '">' . __( 'Directions', 'wpsl' ) . '</a></p>';
```

--------------------------------

### Default SQL Placeholder Values (PHP)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_sql_placeholder_values

This snippet shows the default placeholder values used in the SQL query by the WP Store Locator plugin. These include the radius, latitude, and longitude obtained from GET parameters.

```php
$placeholder_values = array(
    $radius,
    $_GET['lat'],
    $_GET['lng'],
    $_GET['lat']
);
```

--------------------------------

### Generate Google Maps Directions Link (PHP)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/create-custom-store-page-template

This code snippet generates a link to Google Maps with the store's address pre-filled as the destination. It retrieves the address, city, and country from post meta, constructs the URL, and outputs an anchor tag. Ensure the relevant meta keys ('wpsl_address', 'wpsl_city', 'wpsl_country') are populated.

```php
$address       = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_address', true );
$city          = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_city', true );
$country       = get_post_meta( $queried_object->ID, 'wpsl_country', true );
$destination   = $address . ',' . $city . ',' . $country;
$direction_url = "https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&daddr=" . urlencode( $destination ) . "";
echo '<p><a href="' . esc_url( $direction_url ) . '">' . __( 'Directions', 'wpsl' ) . '</a></p>';
```

--------------------------------

### Hide Directions Link with CSS

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/hide-store-listing

Hides the 'Directions' link within the info window of the WP Store Locator plugin using a CSS rule targeting `.wpsl-directions`. This is an alternative to enabling the option in Google Maps settings.

```css
.wpsl-directions {
    display: none !important;
}
```

--------------------------------

### Generate Store Info Window Template (PHP)

Source: https://wpstorelocator.co/document/wpsl_more_info_template

This PHP code snippet dynamically generates an HTML template string for the store locator's info window. It conditionally includes contact information (phone, fax, email) and store hours based on available data and settings. It also shows how to include custom fields like 'my_textinput'.

```php
$more_info_template .= "				" . '<p>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% if ( phone ) { %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'phone_label', __( 'Phone', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= formatPhoneNumber( phone ) %></span>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% if ( fax ) { %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'fax_label', __( 'Fax', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= fax %></span>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% if ( email ) { %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<span><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'email_label', __( 'Email', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong>: <%= email %></span>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '</p>' . "\r\n";
        }
        if ( !$wpsl_settings['hide_hours'] ) {
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% if ( hours ) { %>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<div class="wpsl-store-hours"><strong>' . esc_html( $wpsl->i18n->get_translation( 'hours_label', __( 'Hours', 'wpsl' ) ) ) . '</strong><%= hours %></div>' . "\r\n";
            $more_info_template .= "				" . '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
        }
        // Include data from the custom 'my_textinput' field in the info window template.
        $more_info_template .= '<% if ( my_textinput ) { %>' . "\r\n";
        $more_info_template .= '<p><%= my_textinput %></p>' . "\r\n";
        $more_info_template .= '<% } %>' . "\r\n";
        $more_info_template .= "			" . '</div>' . "\r\n";
Limit the categories shown in the WP Store Locator dropdown to a specific parent category on certain pages. This example uses the 'wpsl_dropdown_category_args' filter and checks the current page before setting the 'parent' argument.
```PHP
add_filter( 'wpsl_dropdown_category_args', 'custom_dropdown_category_args' );

function custom_dropdown_category_args( $args ) {

 if ( is_page( 'your-page-name' ) ) {
 $args['parent'] = 1; // parent category ID
 } else if ( is_page( 'other-page-name' ) ) {
 // Further conditions can be added here
 }

 return $args;
}
