### Subquery Alternative with JOIN

Source: https://usehalo.com/haloitsm/guides/2616

Replace subqueries in WHERE clauses with JOINs for improved performance. This example shows how to get the last action date on tickets using a JOIN instead of a subquery.

```sql
SELECT
    t.ticketid,
    t.subject,
    t.datecreated,
    MAX(ta.datecreated) AS lastaction
FROM
    tickets t
LEFT JOIN
    ticket_actions ta ON t.ticketid = ta.ticketid
WHERE
    t."deleted" = false
GROUP BY
    t.ticketid,
    t.subject,
    t.datecreated
```
