### EDATE Function Syntax and Usage

Source: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3092974

The EDATE function calculates a date that is a specified number of months before or after a given start date. It takes the start date and the number of months as arguments. The number of months can be positive or negative, and decimal values are truncated.

```APIDOC
EDATE(start_date, months)
Parameters:
  start_date: The date from which to calculate the result. Can be a date serial number, a reference to a cell containing a date, or a function returning a date (e.g., DATE, DATEVALUE, TO_DATE).
  months: The number of months before (negative) or after (positive) start_date to calculate. Decimal components are truncated.
Sample Usage:
EDATE(DATE(1969,7,20), 1)
EDATE(A2, 1)
EDATE(40909, -2)
Notes:
  - Ensure start_date is a date serial number or a function returning a date.
  - EDATE does not auto-convert number formats like direct cell entry. EDATE(10/10/2000,1) is interpreted as EDATE(0.005,1).
  - Non-integer arguments to months are truncated (e.g., EDATE(A2,2.6) is EDATE(A2,2)).
See Also:
  - TO_DATE: Converts a number to a date.
  - N: Returns the argument as a number.
  - EOMONTH: Returns the last day of a month, a specified number of months before or after another date.
  - DATEVALUE: Converts a date string to a date value.
  - DATE: Converts year, month, and day into a date.
