```APIDOC
## smartctl -d [TYPE] [DEVICE]
### Description
Specifies the device type for smartctl to communicate with disks behind specific RAID controllers or bridges.
### Examples
- **cciss**: smartctl -a -d cciss,0 /dev/cciss/c0d0
- **hpt**: smartctl -a -d hpt,1/3 /dev/sda
- **sssraid**: smartctl -a -d sssraid,0,1 /dev/bsg/sssraid0
### Run Self-Test on Areca RAID Controller Disk
Source: https://www.smartmontools.org/browser/src/smartctl.8.in
Starts a long self-test on the fourth SATA disk connected to an Areca RAID controller.
```bash
smartctl -t long -d areca,4 /dev/sg2
```
--------------------------------
### Run Short Self-Test on HighPoint RAID Controller Disk
Source: https://www.smartmontools.org/browser/src/smartctl.8.in
Starts a short self-test on a specific disk connected to a HighPoint RocketRAID controller.
```bash
smartctl -t short -d hpt,1/1/2 /dev/sda (under Linux)
smartctl -t short -d hpt,1/1/2 /dev/hptrr (under FreeBSD)
```
### Initialize Trac Environment with Repository Configuration
Source: https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/TracEnvironment
Use the initenv command with a configuration file to define repository settings during environment creation.
```bash
$ trac-admin $ENV initenv --config=config.ini
$ cat config.ini
[components]
tracopt.versioncontrol.* = enabled

[repositories]
.dir = /path/to/default/type/repos
repos1.type = git
repos1.dir = /path/to/git/repos
repos2.type = svn
repos2.dir = /path/to/svn/repos
```
