### Rook Ceph Quickstart

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release

This section provides instructions for starting Ceph in a Kubernetes cluster using a few `kubectl` commands. It directs users to a dedicated Quickstart guide for detailed steps on deploying the Ceph operator.

```markdown
## Quick Start Guide
Starting Ceph in your cluster is as simple as a few `kubectl` commands. See our Quickstart guide to get started with the Ceph operator!
```

### Rook Cluster Deployment (TL;DR)

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

Quick commands to deploy a Rook cluster on Kubernetes. Assumes prerequisites are met and requires navigating to the Rook examples directory.

```bash
cd rook/deploy/examples
kubectl create -f crds.yaml -f common.yaml -f csi-operator.yaml -f operator.yaml
kubectl create -f cluster.yaml
```

--------------------------------

### Rook Operator Deployment

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

Steps to deploy the Rook operator on Kubernetes using example manifests. It includes verification commands and notes on production settings and alternative namespaces.

```bash
cd deploy/examples
kubectl create -f crds.yaml -f common.yaml -f csi-operator.yaml -f operator.yaml
# verify Running
kubectl -n rook-ceph get pod
```

### Deploy Ceph with Rook on Kubernetes

Source: https://rook.io/index

This snippet demonstrates the basic command to create a Ceph storage cluster on Kubernetes using Rook. It assumes you have a Kubernetes cluster configured and kubectl installed.

```Shell
$ kubectl create -f c
```

--------------------------------

### CPU Architecture Support

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

Lists the CPU architectures that Rook supports for deployment. This is important for selecting the correct images and ensuring compatibility.

```APIDOC
CPU Architecture:
  Supported architectures: `amd64 / x86_64`, `arm64`
```

--------------------------------

### Kubernetes Version Support

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

Specifies the supported Kubernetes versions for Rook. Ensure your cluster meets these requirements for compatibility.

```APIDOC
Kubernetes Version:
  Supported versions: v1.29 through v1.33
```

### Rook Introduction

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release

Rook is an open-source cloud-native storage orchestrator that integrates Ceph storage with cloud-native environments. It automates Ceph deployment, management, scaling, and healing using Kubernetes resources. Rook is a graduated CNCF project.

```markdown
# Rook
Rook is an open source **cloud-native storage orchestrator** , providing the platform, framework, and support for Ceph storage to natively integrate with cloud-native environments.
Ceph is a distributed storage system that provides file, block and object storage and is deployed in large scale production clusters.
Rook automates deployment and management of Ceph to provide self-managing, self-scaling, and self-healing storage services. The Rook operator does this by building on Kubernetes resources to deploy, configure, provision, scale, upgrade, and monitor Ceph.
The Ceph operator was declared stable in December 2018 in the Rook v0.9 release, providing a production storage platform for many years. Rook is hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as a graduated level project.
### Ceph Storage Overview
Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release
This section provides an overview of Ceph as a scalable distributed storage solution for block storage, object storage, and shared filesystems. It references detailed design documentation for in-depth information.
```markdown
## Designs

Ceph is a highly scalable distributed storage solution for block storage, object storage, and shared filesystems with years of production deployments. See the Ceph overview.
For detailed design documentation, see also the design docs.

### Create Ceph Cluster with Rook

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

This snippet shows the command to create a Ceph cluster using a `cluster.yaml` manifest file. It's a crucial step after deploying the Rook operator.

```bash
kubectl create -f cluster.yaml
```

--------------------------------

### Verify Ceph Cluster Pods

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

This command lists the pods in the `rook-ceph` namespace to verify that the Ceph cluster components (mon, mgr, osd) are running. The number of OSD pods depends on the cluster configuration.

```shell
kubectl get pods -n rook-ceph
```

--------------------------------

### Enable Ceph Telemetry

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

This command enables telemetry reporting for Rook clusters, allowing maintainers to collect anonymous usage data. More details on data privacy can be found in the Ceph Telemetry Documentation.

```shell
ceph telemetry on
```

--------------------------------

### Check Ceph Cluster Health

Source: https://rook.io/docs/rook/latest-release/Getting-Started/quickstart

This command connects to the Rook toolbox to check the overall health status of the Ceph cluster. A healthy cluster should report `HEALTH_OK` with all monitors in quorum, an active manager, and all OSDs up and in.

```shell
ceph status
```
