### Update .terraformrc for OCI Provider (Linux/macOS)

Source: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/oracle/oci/latest/docs/guides/version-2-upgrade

Modify your ~/.terraformrc file to point to the new OCI provider binary path. This example shows how to reference both the old and new providers simultaneously.

```hcl
providers {
  baremetal = "~/.terraform.d/plugins/terraform-provider-baremetal"
### Configure Authentication Using a Configuration File Profile
Source: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/oracle/oci/latest/docs/guides/resource_discovery
Specify a non-default profile from the OCI configuration file for authentication by setting the `TF_VAR_config_file_profile` environment variable. The provider prioritizes environment variables, then non-default profiles, and finally the default profile.
```shell
export TF_VAR_config_file_profile=
```
Set environment variables for API Key based authentication, including tenancy OCID, user OCID, fingerprint, and the path to the private key. This is required for the OCI provider to discover resources.
```shell
export TF_VAR_tenancy_ocid=
export TF_VAR_user_ocid=
export TF_VAR_fingerprint=
export TF_VAR_private_key_path=
```
--------------------------------
```bash
~/.terraform.d/plugins/
```
```bash
.../my-plan-folder/.terraform/plugins/darwin_amd64/

### Project Reference
The following attributes are exported:
  * `compartment_id` - The compartment identifier.

### Specify OCI Provider Version 3 in Configuration

Source: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/oracle/oci/latest/docs/guides/version-3-upgrade

Place an explicit version requirement in your OCI Provider configuration block to use version 3. This approach maintains compatibility with previous versions.

```terraform
provider "oci" {
  version          = ">= 3.0.0"
  region           = "${var.region}"
  tenancy_ocid     = "${var.tenancy_ocid}"
  user_ocid        = "${var.user_ocid}"
  fingerprint      = "${var.fingerprint}"
  private_key_path = "${var.private_key_path}"
}
```

### Placeholder for Missing Required Attributes

Source: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/oracle/oci/latest/docs/guides/resource_discovery

When a required attribute is not found during discovery, a placeholder value is set with a comment. This prevents plan failures and requires manual intervention to update.

```hcl
admin_password = "" #Required attribute not found in discovery, placeholder value set to avoid plan failure
