### UserType Select Filter Example

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/filters/defining-filters

This example demonstrates a basic select filter for user types. The `apply` method modifies the query based on the selected value, and the `options` method defines the available choices for the dropdown.

```php
namespace App\Nova\Filters;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Database\Eloquent\Builder;
use Laravel\Nova\Filters\Filter;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
class UserType extends Filter
{
    /**
     * The filter's component.
     *
     * @var string
     */
    public $component = 'select-filter';
    /**
     * Apply the filter to the given query.
     */
    public function apply(NovaRequest $request, Builder $query, mixed $value): Builder
    {
        return $query->where('type', $value);
    }
    /**
     * Get the filter's available options.
     *
     * @return array<string, string>
     */
    public function options(NovaRequest $request): array
    {
        return [
            'Administrator' => 'admin',
            'Editor' => 'editor',
        ];
    }
}
```

--------------------------------

### Basic Nova Action Implementation

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/actions/defining-actions

Define the `handle` method to perform tasks on selected models and the `fields` method to define any necessary input fields for the action. This example sends an email profile.

```php
namespace App\Nova\Actions;
use App\Models\AccountData;
use Illuminate\Bus\Queueable;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Queue\ShouldQueue;
use Illuminate\Queue\InteractsWithQueue;
use Illuminate\Support\Collection;
use Laravel\Nova\Actions\Action;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\ActionFields;
class EmailAccountProfile extends Action
{
    use InteractsWithQueue;
    use Queueable;
    /**
     * Perform the action on the given models.
     *
     * @return mixed
     */
    public function handle(ActionFields $fields, Collection $models)
    {
        foreach ($models as $model) {
            (new AccountData($model))->send();
        }
    }
    /**
    * Get the fields available on the action.
     *
     * @return array<int, \Laravel\Nova\Fields\Field>
     */
    public function fields(NovaRequest $request): array
    {
        return [];
    }
}
```

--------------------------------

### Store File, Create Thumbnails, and Update Media Relationship

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/file-fields

Customize file storage to handle media relationships and background processing. This example stores the file, dispatches a job to optimize media, and updates a `media` relationship.

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\File;
// ...
File::make('Attachment')
    ->store(function (NovaRequest $request, $model) {
        return function () use ($model, $request) {
            $media = $model->media()->updateOrCreate([], [
                'path'=> $request->file('attachment')->store('/path', 'public')
            ]);
            OptimizeMedia::dispatch($media);
        };
    }),
```

--------------------------------

### Listening for Client-Side Events with Nova.$on

```php
namespace Acme\Analytics;
use Laravel\Nova\Card;
class Analytics extends Card
{
    // ...
    /**
     * Indicates that the analytics should show current visitors.
     *
     * @return $this
     */
    public function currentVisitors()
    {
        return $this->withMeta(['currentVisitors' => true]);
    }
}
```

--------------------------------

### Define Pivot Computed Fields

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/relationships

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\BelongsToMany;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Boolean;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Text;
// ...
BelongsToMany::make('Users')
    ->fields(function ($request, $relatedModel) {
        return [
            Text::make('Notes'),
            Boolean::make('Has Notes', function ($pivot) {
                return ! empty($pivot->notes);
            }),
        ];
    }),
```

--------------------------------

Implement the `afterCreate` static method on a resource to execute code specifically after a resource has been created within Laravel Nova. This example sends an email verification notification.

```php
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
/**
 * Register a callback to be called after the resource is created.
 *
 * @return void
 */
public static function afterCreate(NovaRequest $request, Model $model)
{
    $model->sendEmailVerificationNotification();
}
```

```php
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\DB;
// ...
/**
 * Get the searchable columns for the resource.
 *
 * @return array
 */
public static function searchableColumns()
{
    return ['id', DB::raw("CONCAT(first_name, ' ', last_name)")];
}
```

--------------------------------

### Customize Relatable Query for Tags

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/authorization

Use a dynamic method name suffixed with the pluralized model name to customize the relatable query for a specific relationship. This example customizes the query for 'tags'.

```php
use Illuminate\Contracts\Database\Eloquent\Builder;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
/**
 * Build a "relatable" query for the given resource.
 *
 * This query determines which instances of the model may be attached to other resources.
 */
public static function relatableTags(NovaRequest $request, Builder $query): Builder
{
    return $query->where('type', 'posts');
}
```

--------------------------------

### Configure Two-Factor Authentication in NovaServiceProvider

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/authentication

 */
public function calculate(NovaRequest $request): ProgressResult
{
    return $this->sum(
        $request,
        Transaction::class,
        progress: fn ($query) => $query->where('completed', '=', 1),
        column: 'amount',
        target: 2000,
    )->dollars();
}
```
--------------------------------
### Configure Global Search Debounce
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/search/global-search
// ...
MenuSection::make('Dashboard')->path('/dashboards/main');
```

--------------------------------

### Customize File Deletion Logic

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/file-fields

Override the default file deletion behavior using the `delete` method. This example explicitly deletes the file from S3 storage and nullifies associated model attributes.

```php
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Storage;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
File::make('Attachment')
    ->disk('s3')
    ->delete(function (NovaRequest $request, $model, $disk, $path) {
        if (! $path) {
            return;
        }
        Storage::disk($disk)->delete($path);
        return [
            'attachment' => null,
            'attachment_name' => null,
            'attachment_size' => null,
        ];
    }),
```

--------------------------------

### Register Card Script and Style Assets

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/cards

Explicitly register JavaScript and CSS assets for your card using `Nova::script` and `Nova::style`. This provides more granular control over asset registration.

```diff
Nova::serving(function (ServingNova $event) {
-   Nova::mix('acme-analytic', __DIR__.'/../dist/mix-manifest.json');
+   Nova::script('acme-analytic', __DIR__.'/../dist/js/card.js');
+   Nova::style('acme-analytic', __DIR__.'/../dist/css/card.css');
    Nova::translations(__DIR__.'/../resources/lang/en/card.json');
});
```

--------------------------------

### Update Inertia Imports for Vue 3

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/upgrade

Date::make('Birthday'),
DateTime::make('Created At'),
```
--------------------------------
### Add Badges to Menu Sections
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/menus
Add visual badges to menu sections using `withBadge`. Supports string, `Badge` instance, or a closure for dynamic values. Example shows a 'New!' badge.
```php
use App\Models\Issue;
use Laravel\Nova\Menu\MenuSection;
use Laravel\Nova\Badge;

// ...

// Passing a string directly
MenuSection::make('New Issues')
    ->path('/resources/issues/lens/new-issues')
    ->withBadge('New!', 'success')
    ->icon('document-text');

// Passing a Laravel\Nova\Badge instance directly
MenuSection::make('New Issues')
    ->path('/resources/issues/lens/new-issues')
    ->withBadge(Badge::make('New!', 'info'))
    ->icon('document-text');

// Using a closure to resolve the value
MenuSection::make('New Issues')
    ->path('/resources/issues/lens/new-issues')
    ->withBadge(fn () => Issue::count(), 'warning')
    ->icon('document-text');
```
--------------------------------
### Dynamically Set Tool Options
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/resource-tools
Set tool options by calling them as methods during tool registration. If an argument is provided, it will be used as the option's value.
```php
use Acme\StripeInspector\StripeInspector;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;

// ...

/**
 * Get the fields displayed by the resource.
 *
 * @return array<int, \Laravel\Nova\Fields\Field|\Laravel\Nova\ResourceTool>
 */
public function fields(NovaRequest $request): array
{
    return [
        ID::make('ID', 'id')->sortable(),

        StripeInspector::make()->issuesRefunds(),
    ];
}
```
--------------------------------
    return [
        Actions\ConsolidateTransaction::make()
            ->showInline(),
    ];
}
```

--------------------------------

### Store File and Update Model Attributes

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/file-fields

Use the `store` method with a callable to define custom logic for storing files and updating associated model attributes. This example stores the attachment and its original name and size.

```php
use Illuminate\http\Request;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\File;
// ...
File::make('Attachment')
    ->store(fn (Request $request, $model) => [
        'attachment' => $request->attachment->store('/', 's3'),
        'attachment_name' => $request->attachment->getClientOriginalName(),
        'attachment_size' => $request->attachment->getSize(),
    ]),
```

--------------------------------

### Compile and Minify Card Assets for Production

```shell
# Compile and minify your assets...
npm run prod
```

--------------------------------

### Specify Relationship Resource in Relatable Method

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/authorization

When Nova cannot determine the relationship resource by convention, supply a third argument to the relationship definition. This example shows how to handle different relationship types within a `relatableTeams` method.

```php
use Illuminate\Contracts\Database\Eloquent\Builder;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\BelongsTo;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\BelongsToMany;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Field;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
/**
 * Build a "relatable" query for the given resource.
 *
 * This query determines which instances of the model may be attached to other resources.
 */
public static function relatableTeams(
    NovaRequest $request,
    Builder $query,
    Field $field
): Builder {
    if ($field instanceof BelongsToMany && $field->attribute === 'teams') {
        // ...
    } elseif ($field instanceof BelongsTo && $field->attribute === 'currentTeam') {
        // ...
    }
    return $query;
}
```

--------------------------------

### Authorize Relationship Actions (Add Comment)

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/authorization

Define policy methods like `add{Model}` to authorize actions related to adding models to relationships. For example, `addComment` on a `PodcastPolicy` authorizes adding comments to a podcast.

```php
use App\Models\User;
use App\Models\Podcast;
// ...
/**
 * Determine whether the user can add a comment to the podcast.
 *
 * @return mixed
 */
public function addComment(User $user, Podcast $podcast)
{
    return true;
}
```

--------------------------------

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\DateTime;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\FormData;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
DateTime::make('Created At'),
DateTime::make('Updated At')
    ->dependsOn(['created_at'], function (DateTime $field, NovaRequest $request, FormData $form) {
        $field->setValue(Carbon::parse($form->created_at)->addDays(7));
    }),
```

--------------------------------

### Generate a New Nova Asset

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/assets

Use the `nova:asset` Artisan command to generate a new custom asset. The asset name should follow the Composer `vendor/package` format. Nova will prompt for NPM dependency installation and compilation.

```shell
php artisan nova:asset acme/analytics
```

--------------------------------

### Create a Basic Internal Menu Link

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/menus

Use the `MenuItem::link` factory method to create a simple link to an internal route within your Nova application.

```php
/**
 * Bootstrap any application services.
 */
public function boot(): void
{
    parent::boot();
    $this->app->booted(function () {
        $this->routes();
    });
    Nova::serving(function (ServingNova $event) {
        Nova::mix('acme-analytic', __DIR__.'/../dist/mix-manifest.json');
        Nova::translations(__DIR__.'/../resources/lang/en/card.json');
    });
}
```

--------------------------------

```shell
php artisan nova:stubs
```

--------------------------------

### Filter Scout Search Results

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/authorization

Customize the Laravel Scout query builder before it's sent to the search provider by overriding the `scoutQuery` method on your resource class. This example filters results by the current user's ID.

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
use Laravel\Scout\Builder as ScoutBuilder;
// ...
/**
 * Build a Scout search query for the given resource.
 */
public static function scoutQuery(
    NovaRequest $request,
    ScoutBuilder $query
): ScoutBuilder {
    return $query->where('user_id', $request->user()->id);
}
```

--------------------------------

```shell
composer update
```

--------------------------------

### Toggle Field Visibility Using dependsOn

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/dependent-fields

Dynamically show or hide fields based on the state of another field. This example hides the 'User' field by default and shows it with a 'required' rule only when the 'Anonymous Comment' boolean is false.

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Boolean;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\BelongsTo;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\FormData;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
Boolean::make('Anonymous Comment', 'anonymous')
    ->onlyOnForms()
    ->fillUsing(fn () => null)
    ->default(true),
BelongsTo::make('User')
    ->hide()
    ->rules('sometimes')
    ->dependsOn('anonymous', function (BelongsTo $field, NovaRequest $request, FormData $formData) {
        if ($formData->boolean('anonymous') === false) {
            $field->show()->rules('required');
        }
    }),
```

--------------------------------

### Configure Pagination Style

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/the-basics

Set the 'pagination' option in `config/nova.php` to 'links' to enable link-based pagination instead of the default 'simple' style.

```php
'pagination' => 'links',
```

--------------------------------

### Conditionally Customize Field Configuration with dependsOn

Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/dependent-fields

Use `dependsOn` to customize a field's configuration based on the value of another field. This example shows how to make a 'Recipient' field required and email-validated only when the 'Purchase Type' is 'Gift'.

```php
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\FormData;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Select;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Text;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
// ...
return [
    Select::make('Purchase Type', 'type')
        ->options([
            'personal' => 'Personal',
            'gift' => 'Gift',
        ]),
    // Recipient field configuration is customized based on purchase type...
    Text::make('Recipient')
        ->readonly()
        ->dependsOn(
            ['type'],
            function (Text $field, NovaRequest $request, FormData $formData) {
                if ($formData->type === 'gift') {
                    $field->readonly(false)->rules(['required', 'email']);
                }
            }
        ),
];
```

--------------------------------

// ...

/**
 * Get the actions available for the resource.
 *
 * @return array<int, \Laravel\Nova\Actions\Action>
 */
public function actions(NovaRequest $request): array
{
    return [
        Actions\EmailAccountProfile::make()->fullscreen()
    ];
}
```
--------------------------------
### Create Tab Panels for Resource Fields
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/resources/panels
```php
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Currency;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\HasMany;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\HasManyThrough;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\Hidden;
use Laravel\Nova\Fields\ID;
use Laravel\Nova\Http\Requests\NovaRequest;
use Laravel\Nova\Tabs\Tab;

// ...

/**
 * Get the fields displayed by the resource.
 *
 * @return array<int, \Laravel\Nova\Fields\Field|\Laravel\Nova\Panel>
 */
public function fields(NovaRequest $request): array
{
    return [
        ID::make()->sortable(),

        // ...

        Tab::group('Details', [
            Tab::make('Purchases', [
                Currency::make('Price')->asMinorUnits(),
                Number::make('Tickets Available'),
                Number::make('Tickets Sold'),
            ]),

            Tab::make('Registrations', [
                // ...
            ]),

            Tab::make('Event & Venue', [
                // ...
            ]),
        ]),

        Tab::group('Relations', [
            HasMany::make('Orders'),
            HasManyThrough::make('Tickets'),
        ]),
    ]
}
```
### Format Partition Labels with Closures
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/metrics/defining-metrics
Use the label method with a Closure to transform raw database values into human-readable strings.
```php
use App\\Models\\User;
use Laravel\\Nova\\Http\\Requests\\NovaRequest;
use Laravel\\Nova\\Metrics\\PartitionResult;

// ...

/**
 * Calculate the value of the metric.
 */
public function calculate(NovaRequest $request): PartitionResult
{
    return $this->count(
        $request, User::class, groupBy: 'stripe_plan'
    )->label(fn ($value) => match ($value) {
        null => 'None',
        default => ucfirst($value)
    });
}
```
### Register a Custom Tool in NovaServiceProvider
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/tools
Register your custom tool by adding an instance of its class to the `tools` method in your `App/Providers/NovaServiceProvider`. This makes the tool appear in the Nova sidebar.
```php
use Acme\PriceTracker\PriceTracker;

// ..

/**
 * Get the tools that should be listed in the Nova sidebar.
 */
public function tools(): array
{
    return [
        new PriceTracker,
    ];
}
```
### Create a new Nova user
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/installation
Use the artisan command to create a user for Nova access.
```shell
php artisan nova:user
```
--------------------------------
### Configure Nova Initial Path
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/installation
Sets the default dashboard path when accessing Nova. Can be defined as a static string or a dynamic closure.
```php
/**
 * Register any application services.
 */
public function register(): void
{
    parent::register();

    Nova::initialPath('/resources/users');

    // ...
}
```
```php
/**
 * Register any application services.
 */
public function register(): void
{
    parent::register();

    Nova::initialPath(function ($request) {
        return $request->user()->initialPath();
    });

    // ...
}
```
### Update Composer dependencies
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/installation
Run the update command to download the Nova package.
```shell
composer update --prefer-dist
```
### Define Tool Navigation Menu
Source: https://nova.laravel.com/docs/v5/customization/tools
Implement the `menu` method in your tool class to return a custom menu for left-side navigation links. Ensure the path matches your tool's route.
```php
use Illuminate\Http\Request;
use Laravel\Nova\Menu\MenuSection;

// ...

/**
 * Build the menu that renders the navigation links for the tool.
 *
 * @param  \Illuminate\Http\Request  $request
 * @return mixed
 */
public function menu(Request $request)
{
    return MenuSection::make('Price Tracker')
        ->path('/price-tracker')
        ->icon('server');
}
```
