### Example of Custom Link Attribution

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/custom-link-attribution

This example demonstrates how to set a download link to be tracked as an outbound link using custom attribution parameters.

```html
<a href="/files/document.pdf" data-vars-category="outbound-link" data-vars-label="document-pdf" data-vars-action="download">
  Download PDF
</a>
```

### Call-to-Action Custom Event Tracking

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/custom-link-attribution

This example shows how to track link clicks on a call-to-action button with a custom event category 'cta'. The event action defaults to the URL if left blank, and the label uses the link's text content.

```html
<a href="https://monsterinsights.com/goal/" data-vars-category="cta" data-vars-label="Sidebar Button" data-vars-action="click-here">
  Click Here
</a>
```

--------------------------------

### Event Action Default Behavior

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/custom-link-attribution

When the event action is left blank in the custom link attribution, it defaults to the URL of the link. This example illustrates that behavior.

```html
https://monsterinsights.com/goal/
```

### Add a Site Note with MonsterInsights

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/getting-started-with-the-site-notes-automations

Use the `monsterinsights_add_site_note()` function to create a new site note. Pass an array of arguments including the note description, author ID, date, category ID, media ID, and importance.

```php
$args = array(
    'note' => 'A sample site note',
    'author_id'=> 1,
    'date' => '2024-05-16',
    'category_id' => 5,
    'media_id' => 10,
    'important' => true,
);
monsterinsights_add_site_note( $args );
```

### Custom Link Attribution Formula

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/add-custom-link-events-to-navigation-menu-items

Use this HTML structure to add custom event tracking to links. Ensure MonsterInsights is installed and configured for this to work.

```html
<a href="https://www.monsterinsights.com" data-vars-ga-category="Custom Category" data-vars-ga-action="Custom Action" data-vars-ga-label="Custom Label">Example</a>
```

--------------------------------

### Verify Cross-Domain Tracking URL Parameter

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/setup-cross-domain-tracking

The URL should contain the '_gl' linker parameter when navigating between tracked domains.

```text
https://www.mycoolsite.com/?_gl=1*1ej46ag*_ga*NjgwOT
```

### Add Custom Event Tracking to Multiple Menu Links

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/add-custom-link-events-to-navigation-menu-items

Extend the filter logic with elseif statements to apply custom tracking attributes to multiple navigation menu items.

```php
add_filter( 'nav_menu_link_attributes', 'monsterinsights_custom_menu_link_atts', 10, 3 );
function monsterinsights_custom_menu_link_atts( $atts, $item, $args ) {
	$menu_target = 1075; // Change 1075 to the ID of your menu item.
  if ($item-&gt;ID == $menu_target) {
  	$atts['data-vars-ga-category'] = 'CTA'; // Change CTA to whatever makes sense for your site.
    $atts['data-vars-ga-label'] = 'contact primary header menu'; // Adjust label content to suit your needs.
   }  elseif ($item-&gt;ID == 2725) { // Change 2725 to the ID of your menu item.
    $atts['data-vars-ga-category'] = 'CTA';
    $atts['data-vars-ga-label'] = 'contact secondary header menu';
   }
  elseif ($item-&gt;ID == 1109) { // Change 1109 to the ID of your menu item.
    $atts['data-vars-ga-category'] = 'CTA';
    $atts['data-vars-ga-label'] = 'article submissions primary header menu';
   }
  return $atts;
}
```

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/how-to-disable-the-monsterinsights-dashboard-widget

### Add Google Ads Event Snippet in WordPress

Source: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/how-to-create-a-google-ad-campaign-in-monsterinsights

Add the Google Ads event snippet as an HTML snippet in WPCode, preferably using `__gtagTracker` instead of `gtag`. Configure it to auto-insert in the site-wide header and use conditional logic to specify the page URL where the conversion occurs.

```html
<script>
  window.__gtagTracker = gtag;
  window.gtag = function() {
    window.__gtagTracker.apply(null, arguments);
  };
  gtag('event', 'conversion', {
    'send_to': 'AW-CONVERSION_ID/CONVERSION_LABEL',
    'value': 1.0,
    'currency': 'CAD',
    'transaction_id': ''
  });
</script>
```
