### HOP - Complex Envelope Example

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/pico/tables.html

Hopping to self is particularly useful for creating complex envelopes. This example starts a short volume decay, holds enough ticks for VOL to complete, raises volume to 60, then holds for a long time to allow VOL to complete and hold volume at 60.

```plaintext
00 VOL 0400 ; starts short volume decay to zero
01 HOP 0110 ; holds enough ticks for VOL to complete
02 VOL 0560 ; raise volume to 60
03 HOP 0303 ; hold for a long time to allow VOL to complete and hold volume at 60
```

### Perceived BPM calculation

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/pico/tipstricks.html

Example calculation of perceived BPM when project BPM is 100 and total pattern tics is 64.

```text
(96*100)/64 = 150
```

### HOP - Complex Envelope Example

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tables.html

This sequence uses HOP to hold rows for VOL commands to complete, creating a volume envelope that decays and then holds at 60.

```plaintext
00 VOL 0400 ; starts short volume decay to zero
01 HOP 0110 ; holds enough ticks for VOL to complete
02 VOL 0560 ; raise volume to 60
03 HOP 0303 ; hold for a long time to allow VOL to complete and hold volume at 60
```

### Sample Position Effects with POF

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tables.html

This jumps to different positions in the sample while decreasing the volume, creating a stuttering effect that can sound like echoes or glitches depending on the sample content. The POF command takes a hexadecimal offset value that determines where in the sample to start playback from.

```plaintext
00 VOL FF --- --- --- ---
01 POF 1000 --- --- --- ---
02 VOL C0 --- --- --- ---
03 POF 2000 --- --- --- ---
04 VOL 80 --- --- --- ---
05 POF 3000 --- --- --- ---
06 VOL 40 --- --- --- ---
07 STP -- --- --- --- ---
```

### Simulate LSDj D command with POF table for delay

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tipstricks.html

Use a VOL zero, wait, then POF to 0x01FF (or 0xFF01) to restart a sample and recreate an LSDj-style delay. Add a short loop in the instrument definition to prevent issues with very short samples.

```lgpt table
00 VOL 0000 ---- 0000 ---- 0000
01 VOL 0080 POF  01FF ---- 0000
02 HOP 0002 HOP  0002 ---- 0000
```

--------------------------------

### Echo emulation with POF and HOP

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tipstricks.html

Use the retriggering system with POF 01FF to restart the sound and HOP commands to create repeating echoes. The first column generates the echoes, while the last column provides volume decay. Add an FCT command to damp high frequencies, emulating regular delay loss.

```plaintext
00 POF 01FF ---- ---- VOL 2000
01 ---- ---- ---- ---- HOP  0001
02 ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
03 HOP  0000 ---- ---- ---- ----
```

--------------------------------

### HOP - Hold Effect Example

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tables.html

This will hold at row 05 for 5 ticks before continuing. Hopping to self is particularly useful for creating complex envelopes.

```plaintext
05 HOP 0505
```

### Creating Arpeggiators

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/advance/tables.html

This sequence creates a simple major arpeggio pattern that repeats 3 times before looping back to the beginning.

```plaintext
00 FRQ 0100 --- --- --- ---
01 FRQ 0104 --- --- --- ---
02 FRQ 0107 --- --- --- ---
03 HOP 0003 --- --- --- ---
04 HOP 0000 --- --- --- ---
```

--------------------------------

### Total pattern tics calculation

Source: https://manual.xiphonics.com/pico/tipstricks.html

Example calculation of total pattern tics for a 4/4 groove that plays 8 times in one pattern (2 steps long).

```text
(4 tics + 4 tics)*8= 64
```
