### Port Forwarding Configuration Example

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/release-notes/surge-mac-legacy

Example configuration for the [Port Forwarding] section. The policy parameter is optional; if omitted, standard proxy matching determines the policy. Commonly used for development and debugging, such as connecting to MariaDB via SSH.

```ini
[Port Forwarding]
0.0.0.0:6841 localhost:3306 policy=SQL-Server-Proxy
```

--------------------------------

### Rule example: IP-CIDR with DEVICE policy

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/guidelines/ponte

Example rule for using the DEVICE:PONTE-NAME policy to access a device in the intranet. Place this rule appropriately in your configuration.

```plaintext
IP-CIDR,192.168.30.0/24,DEVICE:MyMac
```

--------------------------------

### Host Optimization with DOMAIN-SET and RULE-SET

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/release-notes/surge-mac-legacy

Example configuration for the [Host] section using DOMAIN-SET and RULE-SET to improve matching efficiency. Each line maps a set of domains or rules to a DNS server.

```ini
[Host]
DOMAIN-SET:https://example.com/domains.txt = server:https://doh.com/dns-query
RULE-SET:https://example.com/rules.txt = server:https://doh.com/dns-query
```

--------------------------------

### Rule example: DOMAIN-SUFFIX with DEVICE policy

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/guidelines/ponte

Example rule for using the DEVICE:PONTE-NAME policy to access a device in the intranet. Place this rule before any IP-related rules that trigger resolution.

```plaintext
DOMAIN-SUFFIX,myhome,DEVICE:macbook
```

--------------------------------

### Check system proxy with scutil --proxy

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/guidelines

Run this command in Terminal to print the current active system proxy settings. If Surge has correctly set the system proxy, the output should match the expected dictionary shown in the guide.

```bash
scutil --proxy
```

--------------------------------

### IP-CIDR6 rule example

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/release-notes/surge-mac-legacy

Example of IP-CIDR6 rule type introduced in Surge Mac 2.1.0.

```surge
IP-CIDR6,2005::/16,DIRECT,no-resolve
```

--------------------------------

### VMess proxy configuration example

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/zh/release-notes/surge-mac-legacy

Example of a VMess proxy line for Surge 3.3.1. Supports chacha20-poly1305 encryption only; web-socket and TLS options degrade performance.

```plaintext
vmess-proxy= vmess, example.com, 443, username = 12345678-abcd-1234-1234-47ffca0ce229, ws=true, tls=true, ws-path=/v2, ws-headers=X-Header-1:value|X-Header-2:value
```

### DNS mapping configuration: nas.myhome = 192.168.1.20

Source: https://kb.nssurge.com/surge-knowledge-base/guidelines/ponte

Example DNS mapping configuration on Surge Mac to map a custom domain to a device IP address.

```plaintext
nas.myhome = 192.168.1.20
```
