```java
import static java.time.Duration.ofMillis;
import static java.time.Duration.ofMinutes;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertAll;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertEquals;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertNotNull;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertThrows;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertTimeout;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertTimeoutPreemptively;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertTrue;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;
class AssertionsDemo {
### TimingExtension implements BeforeTestExecutionCallback and AfterTestExecutionCallback
Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide
Use this extension to time and log test method execution. It stores the start time in the ExtensionContext store and logs the duration after execution. Requires the JUnit 5 extension API.
```java
import java.lang.reflect.Method;
import java.util.logging.Logger;

import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.AfterTestExecutionCallback;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.BeforeTestExecutionCallback;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.ExtensionContext;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.ExtensionContext.Namespace;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.ExtensionContext.Store;

public class TimingExtension implements BeforeTestExecutionCallback, AfterTestExecutionCallback {

    private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(TimingExtension.class.getName());

    @Override
    public void beforeTestExecution(ExtensionContext context) throws Exception {
        getStore(context).put(context.getRequiredTestMethod(), System.currentTimeMillis());
    }

    @Override
    public void afterTestExecution(ExtensionContext context) throws Exception {
        Method testMethod = context.getRequiredTestMethod();
        long start = getStore(context).remove(testMethod, long.class);
        long duration = System.currentTimeMillis() - start;

        LOG.info(() -> String.format("Method [%s] took %s ms.", testMethod.getName(), duration));
    }

    private Store getStore(ExtensionContext context) {
        return context.getStore(Namespace.create(getClass(), context));
    }

}
```
### Configure selectors in junitPlatform block
Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide
Use the selectors extension to specify which tests to execute. Each selector method corresponds to a discovery selector type, e.g., uris, files, directories, packages, classes, methods, resources. The example shows all available selector methods.
```groovy
junitPlatform {
    // ...
    selectors {
        uris 'file:///foo.txt', 'http://example.com/'
        uri 'foo:resource' __**(1)**
        files 'foo.txt', 'bar.csv'
        file 'qux.json' __**(2)**
        directories 'foo/bar', 'bar/qux'
        directory 'qux/bar' __**(3)**
        packages 'com.acme.foo', 'com.acme.bar'
        aPackage 'com.example.app' __**(4)**
        classes 'com.acme.Foo', 'com.acme.Bar'
        aClass 'com.example.app.Application' __**(5)**
        methods 'com.acme.Foo#a', 'com.acme.Foo#b'
        method 'com.example.app.Application#run(java.lang.String[])' __**(6)**
        resources '/bar.csv', '/foo/input.json'
        resource '/com/acme/my.properties' __**(7)**
    }
    // ...
}
```
### MyMockitoTest: Custom ParameterResolver with Mockito
Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide
Demonstrates a custom ParameterResolver using MockitoExtension to inject mocks into @BeforeEach and @Test methods. The example shows how to use @ExtendWith and @Mock to inject a mock Person and stub its getName() method.
```java
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertEquals;
import static org.mockito.Mockito.when;

import org.junit.jupiter.api.BeforeEach;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.ExtendWith;
import org.mockito.Mock;
import com.example.Person;
import com.example.mockito.MockitoExtension;

@ExtendWith(MockitoExtension.class)
class MyMockitoTest {

    @BeforeEach
    void init(@Mock Person person) {
        when(person.getName()).thenReturn("Dilbert");
    }

    @Test
    void simpleTestWithInjectedMock(@Mock Person person) {
        assertEquals("Dilbert", person.getName());
    }

}
```
### Use JUnit Jupiter assumptions (assumeTrue, assumingThat)
Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide
Demonstrates the Assumptions class methods: assumeTrue() to abort tests when a condition is false, and assumingThat() to conditionally execute assertions. Includes examples for CI and developer workstation environments.
```java
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertEquals;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assumptions.assumeTrue;
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assumptions.assumingThat;

import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;

class AssumptionsDemo {

    @Test
    void testOnlyOnCiServer() {
        assumeTrue("CI".equals(System.getenv("ENV")));
        // remainder of test
    }

    @Test
    void testOnlyOnDeveloperWorkstation() {
        assumeTrue("DEV".equals(System.getenv("ENV")),
            () -> "Aborting test: not on developer workstation");
        // remainder of test
    }

    @Test
    void testInAllEnvironments() {
        assumingThat("CI".equals(System.getenv("ENV")),
            () -> {
                // perform these assertions only on the CI server
                assertEquals(2, 2);
            });

        // perform these assertions in all environments
        assertEquals("a string", "a string");
    }

}
```
### Set JUnit 5 Configuration Parameters in Maven Surefire
Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide
Sets JUnit 5 configuration parameters using the 'configurationParameters' property in Java Properties file syntax. The example deactivates all conditions, enables extension autodetection, and sets the default test instance lifecycle to per_class.
```xml
...
<build>
    <plugins>
        ...
        <plugin>
            <artifactId>maven-surefire-plugin</artifactId>
            <version>2.19</version>
            <configuration>
                <properties>
                    <configurationParameters>
                        junit.jupiter.conditions.deactivate = *
                        junit.jupiter.extensions.autodetection.enabled = true
                        junit.jupiter.testinstance.lifecycle.default = per_class
                    </configurationParameters>
                </properties>
            </configuration>
            <dependencies>
                ...
            </dependencies>
        </plugin>
    </plugins>
</build>

### Parameterized test with @EnumSource and names

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Example of @EnumSource with the names parameter to include specific enum constants.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@EnumSource(value = TimeUnit.class, names = { "DAYS", "HOURS" })
void testWithEnumSourceInclude(TimeUnit timeUnit) {
    assertTrue(EnumSet.of(TimeUnit.DAYS, TimeUnit.HOURS).contains(timeUnit));
}
```

### Discovering tests with LauncherDiscoveryRequest and Launcher

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Builds a LauncherDiscoveryRequest selecting a package and a class, filters by class name pattern, creates a Launcher, and discovers the TestPlan. The TestPlan is a hierarchical, read-only description of all engines, classes, and test methods that fit the request.

```java
LauncherDiscoveryRequest request = LauncherDiscoveryRequestBuilder.request()
    .selectors(
        selectPackage("com.example.mytests"),
        selectClass(MyTestClass.class)
    )
    .filters(
        includeClassNamePatterns(".*Tests")
    )
    .build();
Launcher launcher = LauncherFactory.create();
TestPlan testPlan = launcher.discover(request);
```

### Parameterized test with @EnumSource (all constants)

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Example of @EnumSource without the names parameter, which uses all enum constants.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@EnumSource(TimeUnit.class)
void testWithEnumSource(TimeUnit timeUnit) {
    assertNotNull(timeUnit);
}
```

--------------------------------

### Parameterized test with @ValueSource (int)

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Example of @ValueSource with an int array. Provides a single parameter per invocation.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@ValueSource(ints = { 1, 2, 3 })
void testWithValueSource(int argument) {
    assertNotNull(argument);
}
```

### Run ConsoleLauncher with standalone JAR

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Command to execute the standalone ConsoleLauncher JAR with options. The JAR is available from the central Maven repository.

```bash
java -jar junit-platform-console-standalone-1.0.1.jar <Options>
```

### Parameterized test with @EnumSource and EXCLUDE mode

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Example of @EnumSource with mode = EXCLUDE to exclude specific enum constants.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@EnumSource(value = TimeUnit.class, mode = EXCLUDE, names = { "DAYS", "HOURS" })
void testWithEnumSourceExclude(TimeUnit timeUnit) {
    assertFalse(EnumSet.of(TimeUnit.DAYS, TimeUnit.HOURS).contains(timeUnit));
    assertTrue(timeUnit.name().length() > 5);
}
```

--------------------------------

### Parameterized test with @EnumSource and MATCH_ALL mode

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Example of @EnumSource with mode = MATCH_ALL and a regular expression to select enum constants.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@EnumSource(value = TimeUnit.class, mode = MATCH_ALL, names = "^(M|N).+SECONDS$")
void testWithEnumSourceRegex(TimeUnit timeUnit) {
    String name = timeUnit.name();
    assertTrue(name.startsWith("M") || name.startsWith("N"));
    assertTrue(name.endsWith("SECONDS"));
}
```

### Parameterized test with @ValueSource (String)

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Basic example of a parameterized test using @ValueSource with a String array. Each invocation is reported separately, as shown in the console output.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@ValueSource(strings = { "Hello", "World" })
void testWithStringParameter(String argument) {
    assertNotNull(argument);
}
```

--------------------------------

### @MethodSource with primitive stream

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Use @MethodSource with primitive streams (DoubleStream, IntStream, LongStream) for single-parameter tests. The example uses IntStream.range(0, 20).skip(10) to provide arguments.

```java
@ParameterizedTest
@MethodSource("range")
void testWithRangeMethodSource(int argument) {
    assertNotEquals(9, argument);
}
static IntStream range() {
    return IntStream.range(0, 20).skip(10);
}
```

### Enabling the JUnit Gradle Plugin

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

Configure build.gradle to apply the JUnit Gradle plugin. Requires Gradle 2.5 or higher. The commented maven repository is only needed for SNAPSHOT releases.

```groovy
buildscript {
    repositories {
        mavenCentral()
        // The following is only necessary if you want to use SNAPSHOT releases.
        // maven { url 'https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/snapshots' }
    }
    dependencies {
        classpath 'org.junit.platform:junit-platform-gradle-plugin:1.0.1'
    }
}
apply plugin: 'org.junit.platform.gradle.plugin'
```

### First JUnit 5 test case

Source: https://docs.junit.org/5.0.1/user-guide

A basic test class using @Test and assertEquals to verify that 1 + 1 equals 2. This is the starting point for writing tests with JUnit Jupiter.

```java
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertEquals;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;
class FirstJUnit5Tests {
    @Test
    void myFirstTest() {
        assertEquals(2, 1 + 1);
    }
}
