### Install GNAT and GPRBuild

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/compilation.html

Commands to install the necessary Ada compiler and build tools on common Linux distributions.

```bash
Fedora:
sudo dnf install fedora-gnat-project-common gprbuild gcc-gnat
Debian, Ubuntu or Raspberry Pi OS:
sudo apt install gnat gprbuild
```

--------------------------------

### Build with Alire

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/compilation.html

Command to build the project using the Alire package manager.

```bash
alr build
```

--------------------------------

### Compile with gnatmake

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/compilation.html

Manual compilation steps using gnatmake without GPRBuild, executed from the project root.

```bash
mkdir -p obj
cd obj
gnatmake ../src/powerjoular.adb
```

--------------------------------

### Host: Run PowerJoular to monitor VM process and write CSV

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/vm.html

Run PowerJoular on the host OS, specifying the PID of the virtual machine process and writing power data to a CSV file in overwrite mode. The file is then shared with the guest OS.

```bash
powerjoular -p $VM_PID -o /home/vm/vm.csv
```

--------------------------------

### Guest: Read shared power data file with PowerJoular

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/vm.html

Run PowerJoular inside the guest OS, using the -m and -s options to specify the shared file path and the power data format. Additional options like -p or -a can be added to monitor a specific process or application.

```bash
powerjoular -m /opt/vm/vm.csv -s powerjoular
```

--------------------------------

### Configure Static Linking in powerjoular.gpr

Source: https://joular.github.io/powerjoular/ref/compilation.html

Lines to remove or comment out in the powerjoular.gpr file to disable default static linking.

```ada
package Binder is
    for Switches ("Ada") use ("-static");
end Binder;
```

--------------------------------
