### Start JJazzLab with command line arguments

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/faq

Pass one or more .sng file names on the command line to open them upon start. The example shows a Windows command line with two song files.

```bash
# Example on Win10 (x64)
"C:\Program Files\JJazzLab\bin\jjazzlab64.exe" "C:\my dir\MySong.sng" "D:\AnotherSong.sng"
```

### Install JJazzLab deb/rpm packages with package manager

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/installation

These commands install JJazzLab using the package manager for Debian/Ubuntu (apt, gdebi) and openSUSE (zypper). The package manager automatically installs the required FluidSynth dependency if missing. Replace the filename with the one you downloaded for your distribution.

```bash
sudo apt-get install ./jjazzlab_4.0.2-1_amd64.deb
```

```bash
sudo gdebi install ./jjazzlab-4.0.2-0.x86_64.deb
```

```bash
sudo zypper install ./jjazzlab-4.0.2-0.x86_64.rpm
```

--------------------------------

### Install FluidSynth on macOS using Homebrew

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/installation

Installs FluidSynth via Homebrew on macOS. Required before installing JJazzLab; avoid version 2.4.4 because it has a bug that affects JJazzLab.

```bash
brew install fluidsynth
```

--------------------------------

### Extract JJazzLab tar.xz and set executable permissions

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/installation

Commands to extract the tar.xz package and fix permissions so the bundled Java runtime and launcher can execute. After this, run `bin/jjazzlab` to start the application.

```bash
tar -xf JJazzLab-4.0.2-linux-x64.tar.xz
```

```bash
chmod a+rx bin/jjazzlab jdk/bin/java
```

--------------------------------

### Fix executable permissions for macOS zip install

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/installation

Fixes permission for the JJazzLab launcher and embedded Java runtime on macOS. Execute in the unzipped archive before starting `bin/jjazzlab`.

```bash
chmod a+rx bin/jjazzlab jdk/bin/java
```

--------------------------------

### Edit etc/jjazzlab.conf to add --fontsize option

Source: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/faq

Add the --fontsize option to the default_options variable in the etc/jjazzlab.conf file to increase the font size. The default font size is 11, and the example uses 16. This setting affects menus but not all editor fonts.

```plaintext
default_options="--branding jjazzlab -J-Djjazzlab.version=2.2.0 -J-Dplugin.manager.check.new.plugins=true -J-Dplugin.manager.check.interval=EVERY_DAY --fontsize 16"
```
