### Provision JawsDB with Custom Windows

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Configure specific backup and maintenance windows during provisioning for Whitetip plans and higher.

```bash
$ heroku addons:create jawsdb --bkpwindowstart 00:30 --bkpwindowend 01:00 --mntwindowstart Tue:23:30 --mntwindowend Wed:00:00
-----> Adding jawsdb to sharp-mountain-4005... done, v18 (free)
```

--------------------------------

### Restore Database from File

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Imports a SQL backup file into a target database. Ensure no space exists between the -p flag and the password.

```bash
mysql -h hostname -u username -ppassword database < backup.sql
```

--------------------------------

### Configure Local Environment Variables

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Use these commands to append the JawsDB connection URL to your local .env file and verify the contents.

```bash
$ heroku config -s | grep JAWSDB_URL >> .env
$ more .env
```

--------------------------------

### Backup Database to File

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Exports a database to a local file named backup.sql. Ensure no space exists between the -p flag and the password.

```bash
mysqldump -h hostname -u username -ppassword --no-tablespaces --set-gtid-purged=OFF database > backup.sql
```

--------------------------------

### Provision JawsDB via Heroku CLI

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Use the Heroku CLI to attach a JawsDB instance to your application.

```bash
$ heroku addons:create jawsdb
-----> Adding jawsdb to sharp-mountain-4005... done, v18 (free)
```

--------------------------------

### Check database size and INSERT privileges

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Use this SQL query to verify the current size of your database in MB and confirm if the INSERT privilege is active for your user.

```sql
select
    s.schema_name
    ,sp.grantee user
    ,cast(round(sum(coalesce(t.data_length + t.index_length, 0)) / 1024 / 1024, 3) as char) db_size_mb
    ,sp.has_insert
from
    information_schema.schemata s
    inner join
    information_schema.tables t on s.schema_name = t.table_schema
    inner join (
        select
            spi.grantee
            ,spi.table_schema
            ,max(
                case
                    when spi.privilege_type = 'INSERT' then 1
                    else 0
                end
            ) has_insert
        from
            information_schema.schema_privileges spi
        group by
            spi.grantee
            ,spi.table_schema
    ) sp on s.schema_name = sp.table_schema
group by
    s.schema_name
    ,sp.grantee
    ,sp.has_insert;
```

--------------------------------

### Retrieve JawsDB Connection URL

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Verify the database connection string stored in the JAWSDB_URL configuration variable.

```bash
$ heroku config:get JAWSDB_URL
mysql://username:password@hostname:port/default_schema
```

--------------------------------

### JawsDB Connection String Format

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

The standard URI format used to extract credentials for database operations.

```text
mysql://username:password@hostname:port/database
```

--------------------------------

### Exclude Sensitive Files from Git

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Add the .env file to your .gitignore to prevent sensitive credentials from being committed to source control.

```bash
echo .env >> .gitignore
```

--------------------------------

### Deprovision JawsDB via Heroku CLI

Source: https://www.jawsdb.com/docs

Removes the JawsDB add-on from a Heroku application. This action is irreversible and deletes all associated data.

```bash
$ heroku addons:destroy jawsdb
-----> Removing jawsdb from sharp-mountain-4005... done, v20 (free)
```
