```PHP
add_action( 'wp_ajax_' . ACTION_NAME, $handler );
add_action( 'wp_ajax_nopriv_' . ACTION_NAME, $handler );
```

--------------------------------

### Schedule WordPress Snippet to Run Once Daily

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/43-how-to-make-a-snippet-run-once-per-day

This PHP code snippet demonstrates how to schedule a WordPress action to run once per day using `wp_schedule_event`. It checks if the event is already scheduled before adding it, preventing duplicate cron jobs. The placeholder comment `// do something once each day` indicates where the daily task should be placed. The schedule can be modified to `hourly` or `twicedaily` by changing the keyword in `wp_schedule_event`.

```PHP
add_action( 'init', function () {
	$hook = 'run_snippet_daily';
	$args = array();
	if ( ! wp_next_scheduled( $hook, $args ) ) {
		wp_schedule_event( time(), 'daily', $hook, $args );
	}
} );
add_action( 'run_snippet_daily', function () {
	// do something once each day
} );
```

--------------------------------

### Create WordPress Shortcode for AJAX Trigger Button

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This PHP snippet defines a WordPress shortcode [shea_ajax_button] that generates an HTML button. The button is assigned an id attribute (shea-ajax-button), which will be used by client-side JavaScript to attach event listeners and initiate AJAX calls.

```PHP
add_shortcode( 'shea_ajax_button', function () {
	return '<button id="shea-ajax-button">Click me for AJAX</button>';
} );
```

--------------------------------

### Add Click Event Listener to Button

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This JavaScript code attaches a click event listener to the `ajaxButton` element, defining an anonymous function to be executed when the button is clicked. This function will contain the AJAX request logic.

```JavaScript
ajaxButton.addEventListener('click', () => {
	// code goes here
});
```

--------------------------------

### Send JSON Success Response from WordPress AJAX

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This PHP function wp_send_json_success() sends a JSON-encoded success response back to the client from a WordPress AJAX handler. It automatically sets the correct HTTP headers and terminates the script, making it ideal for returning data or status messages.

```PHP
wp_send_json_success( 'it works!' );
```

--------------------------------

### Define XMLHttpRequest onload Handler

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This JavaScript snippet defines the `onload` event handler for the `XMLHttpRequest` object. The code within this function will execute once a response is received from the server.

```JavaScript
request.onload = () => {
	// this code will run when we get a response back from PHP.
};
```

--------------------------------

### Define PHP Constant for WordPress AJAX Action

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This PHP snippet defines a constant ACTION_NAME to hold the unique string identifier for the AJAX action. Using a constant promotes code clarity and reusability across different parts of the AJAX implementation.

```PHP
const ACTION_NAME = 'shea_ajax_example';
```

--------------------------------

### Conditionally Run CSS on Specific WordPress Pages

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/46-how-can-i-make-a-snippet-run-on-only-a-certain-page

This PHP snippet demonstrates how to use WordPress conditional tags to ensure that embedded CSS code only executes on pages matching specific criteria, such as page ID, URL slug, or title. It leverages the 'wp_head' action hook to inject the CSS into the page's header, but only after checking the page conditions. This prevents the CSS from loading unnecessarily on other parts of the site.

```php
add_action( 'wp_head', function () {
	if ( ! is_page( [ 123, 'some-page-slug', 'Some Page Title' ] ) ) {
		return;
	}
	?>
	<style>
	/* css code here */
	</style>
	<?php
} );
```

--------------------------------

### Restrict WordPress snippet to a single page

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/42-can-i-run-my-snippet-on-just-one-page

This PHP snippet demonstrates how to prevent a WordPress code snippet from executing on all pages except a specified one. By placing `if ( ! is_page('Page Name') ) return;` at the top, the snippet will only run if the current page matches the provided title, slug, or ID. Replace 'Page Name' with the actual page identifier.

```PHP
if ( ! is_page( 'Page Name' ) ) return;
```

--------------------------------

### Validate WordPress AJAX Request Referer

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This PHP line uses check_ajax_referer() to validate the authenticity of an AJAX request in WordPress. It helps prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) by ensuring the request includes a valid nonce for the specified action.

```PHP
check_ajax_referer( ACTION_NAME );
```

--------------------------------

### Check XMLHttpRequest Status for Errors

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/48-ajax-within-snippets

This JavaScript code checks the `request.status` property to determine if the AJAX request was successful (status 200-399). If an error status is detected, an alert is shown, and the function returns early.

```JavaScript
if (200 > request.status || 400 <= request.status) {
	alert('AJAX failure :( We received error code ' + request.status);
	return;
}
```

--------------------------------

### PHP snippet to disable comments in WordPress

Source: https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/52-disable-comments-in-wordpress-by-roy-eyal

It handles various aspects such as redirecting users from the comments page, removing the comments metabox from the dashboard, disabling comment and trackback support for all post types, closing comments on the front-end, hiding existing comments, removing the comments page from the admin menu, and removing comments links from the admin bar.

```PHP
<?php
add_action( 'admin_init', function () {
	// Redirect any user trying to access comments page
	global $pagenow;
	if ( $pagenow === 'edit-comments.php' ) {
		wp_redirect( admin_url() );
		exit;
	}
	// Remove comments metabox from dashboard
	remove_meta_box( 'dashboard_recent_comments', 'dashboard', 'normal' );
	// Disable support for comments and trackbacks in post types
	foreach ( get_post_types() as $post_type ) {
		if ( post_type_supports( $post_type, 'comments' ) ) {
			remove_post_type_support( $post_type, 'comments' );
			remove_post_type_support( $post_type, 'trackbacks' );
		}
	}
} );
// Close comments on the front-end
add_filter( 'comments_open', '__return_false', 20, 2 );
add_filter( 'pings_open', '__return_false', 20, 2 );
// Hide existing comments
add_filter( 'comments_array', '__return_empty_array', 10, 2 );
// Remove comments page in menu
add_action( 'admin_menu', function () {
	remove_menu_page( 'edit-comments.php' );
} );
// Remove comments links from admin bar
add_action( 'init', function () {
	if ( is_admin_bar_showing() ) {
		remove_action( 'admin_bar_menu', 'wp_admin_bar_comments_menu', 60 );
	}
} );
```
