### py2PanelCanvasInfo.py - Full example

Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api2_2py2_panel_canvas_info_8py-example.html

This is the complete example script. It imports the necessary Maya Python API 2.0 modules, creates a scene with an animated cylinder, creates a Graph Editor panel, and then uses MPanelCanvasInfo to get and set viewport bounds and check UI drawing support. The plugin's initializePlugin and uninitializePlugin functions are defined for loading and unloading the plugin.

```python
### Restrict point movement to a line and update attribute
Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api1_2py1_film_move_manip_8py-example.html
This snippet restricts the manipulator's point movement to a line defined by the active component (horizontal or vertical). It uses manipulatorGeometry to get start and end points, computes the closest point on the line to the mouse intersection, and updates the attribute value if requested.
```python
# restrict the point movement
su = OpenMaya.MScriptUtil(0)
uintptr = su.asUintPtr()
self.glActiveName( uintptr )
active = su.getUint(uintptr)

mo = manipulatorGeometry()

start = None
end = None
if active == self.glHorizontalName:
    start = mo.horizontalStart()
    end = mo.horizontalEnd()
elif active == self.glVerticalName:
    start = mo.verticalStart()
    end = mo.verticalEnd()
else:
    raise "Unknown GL active component"

vstart_end = start - end
line = manipulatorMath.lineMath()
line.setLine( start, vstart_end )

closestPoint = OpenMaya.MPoint()
(worked,closestPoint) = line.closestPoint( mouseIntersect )
if not worked:
    print("Failed to find closest point to line")
    return

self.translation = closestPoint
# print "mi: %g %g %g" % (mouseIntersect.x,mouseIntersect.y,mouseIntersect.z)

if updateAttribute:
    m = manipulatorMath.maxOfAbsThree(closestPoint.x,closestPoint.y,closestPoint.z)
    m = m / 10.0 # slow down operation
    if active == self.glHorizontalName:
        self.setDoubleValue(self.horizontalIndex,m)
    elif active == self.glVerticalName:
        self.setDoubleValue(self.verticalIndex,m)

### Object set override: filter scene by selection or disable drawing

Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api2_2py2_view_render_override_8py-example.html

Filters the scene to draw based on the current active selection list, or returns an empty list to disable scene drawing. The example shows two modes: mFilterDrawNothing and mFilterDrawSelected. For filtering across multiple operations, precompute and cache the selection in the setup phase.

```python
def objectSetOverride(self):
    self.mSelectionList.clear()
    # If you set this to True you can make the
    # scene draw draw no part of the scene, only the
    # additional UI elements
    #
    if self.mFilterDrawNothing:
        return self.mSelectionList
    # Turn this on to query the active list and only
    # use that for drawing
    #
    if self.mFilterDrawSelected:
        selList = om.MGlobal.getActiveSelectionList()
        if selList.length() > 0:
            iter = om.MItSelectionList(selList)
            while not iter.isDone():
                comp = iter.getComponent()
                self.mSelectionList.add( comp[0], comp[1] )
                next(iter)
    if self.mSelectionList.length() > 0:
        print("\t" + self.name() + " : Filtering render with active object list")
        return self.mSelectionList
    return None
```

### MRenderOverride.getFrameContext() example in Python API 2.0

Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api2_2py2_frame_context_test_8py-example.html

This plug-in demonstrates how to use MRenderOverride.getFrameContext() within the setup() method to extract per-frame data. It prints viewport dimensions, camera path, UFE camera path, projection and view matrices, and background parameters. The sample output shows expected traces for a 3D viewport and the render view.

```python
Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api1_2py1_array_attr_blender_node_8py-example.html
Example of a user-defined dependency graph node that blends two array inputs.
```APIDOC
## spArrayAttrBlend Node Example

### Description
Implements the dependency graph node "spArrayAttrBlend". This plug-in is an example of a user-defined dependency graph node. It takes 2 array inputs and computes an array output where each output value is the average of the 2 corresponding inputs values. A weight parameter controls how much of input A vs input B is taken into account in the output computation.

### Usage
Create a spArrayAttrBlend connected to a cube translation:

```
createNode spArrayAttrBlend;
polyCube;
connectAttr spArrayAttrBlend1.output[0] pCube1.tx;
connectAttr spArrayAttrBlend1.output[1] pCube1.ty;
connectAttr spArrayAttrBlend1.output[2] pCube1.tz;
```

Modify input parameters to affect the cube position:

```
setAttr spArrayAttrBlend1.weight 1; // Output is driven 100% by inputB
setAttr spArrayAttrBlend1.inputB[1] 10; // will feed 10 to pCube1.ty
```

### Node Attributes
- **aInputA** (MObject) - Input array A
- **aInputB** (MObject) - Input array B
- **aWeight** (MObject) - Weight parameter controlling blend
- **aOutput** (MObject) - Output array

### Helper Method
- **getInputValue(data, attribute, logicalIndex)** - Helper method that extracts an element value from the datablock for a specified array attribute.
```
### Custom Image Plane Example
Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api1_2py1_custom_image_plane_8py-example.html
Example code that creates a custom image plane node and demonstrates how to attach it to a camera.
```APIDOC
## Custom Image Plane Example

### Description
This example creates a custom image plane node (spCustomImagePlane) that overrides Maya's default image plane behavior. It demonstrates how to use MImage to control the floating point depth buffer and how to attach the image plane to a camera.

### Usage
To use this example, run the following commands in Maya's Python interpreter:

```python
import maya
maya.cmds.loadPlugin("customImagePlane.py")
imageP = maya.cmds.createNode("spCustomImagePlane")
maya.cmds.connectAttr( imageP + ".message", "perspShape.imagePlane[0]", force = True )
```

Then, assign an image to the customImagePlane node.

### Notes
- This example works only with renderers that use node evaluation as a part of the rendering process like Maya. It does not work with renderers that rely on a scene translation mechanism like mental ray.
- The image plane node must be attached to a camera shape using the imagePlane message attribute on the camera shape.
- The imagePlane attribute is a multi attribute and can hold references to multiple image planes.

# DESCRIPTION:
#
# Produces the dependency graph node "spCustomImagePlane".
#
# Demonstrates how to create your own custom image plane based on
# Maya's internal image plane classes. This allows API users to
# override the default Maya image plane behavior. This class works
# like typical API nodes in that it can have a compute method and
# can contain static attributes added by the API user. This
# example class overrides the default image plane behavior and
# allows users to add transparency to an image plane using the
# transparency attribute on the node. Note that this code also
# illustrates how to use MImage to control the floating point
# depth buffer. When useDepthMap is set to true, depth is added
# to the image such that half of the image is at the near
# clip plane and the remaining half is at the far clip plane.
#
# Once the image plane node has been created, you must
# attach it to the camera shape that is displaying the node.
# Image planes are attached to cameras using the imagePlane message
# attribute on the camera shape. To attach this example image
# plane, you must connect the image plane's message attribute to
# the cameraShapes imagePlane attribute. Note that the imagePlane
# attribute is a multi attribute and can hold references to
# multiple image planes.
#
# This example works only with renderers that use node evaluation
# as a part of the rendering process like Maya. It does
# not work with renderers that rely on a scene translation mechanism like
# mental ray.
#
# To use, run the following:
#
# import maya
# maya.cmds.loadPlugin("customImagePlane.py")
# imageP = maya.cmds.createNode("spCustomImagePlane")
# maya.cmds.connectAttr( imageP + ".message", "perspShape.imagePlane[0]", force = True )
#
# Then, assign an image to the customImagePlane node.

### simpleSpring Plugin Example

Source: https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2026/CHS/MAYA-API-REF/py_ref/python_2api1_2py1_simple_spring_8py-example.html

Example code for a Maya plugin that creates a custom spring node. It demonstrates how to define a node class and compute method.

```APIDOC
## simpleSpring Plugin Example
### Description
This example demonstrates how to create a custom spring node in Maya using the Python API 2.0. The node calculates spring behavior for simulations.
### Usage
To test the plugin, run the following commands from a Python tab in the Script Editor:
```python
import maya.cmds as cmds

cmds.file(force=True, new=True)
cmds.currentUnit(linear="centimeter", angle="degree", time="film")

# Load the plug-in.
cmds.loadPlugin("simpleSpring.py")

# Create the spring node.
cmds.createNode("spSimpleSpring", name="simpleSpring")

cmds.curve(d=3, p=[(-9, 6, 0), (-4, 6, 0), (4, 6, 0), (9, 6, 0)], k=[(0), (0), (0), (1), (1), (1)])

cmds.particle(n="fourParticles", p=[(11, -2, 0), (4, -2, 0), (-3, -2, 0), (-7, 4, 0)], c=1)

cmds.gravity(pos=(0, 0, 0), m=9.8, dx=0, dy=-1, dz=0)
cmds.connectDynamic("fourParticles", f="gravityField1")

cmds.select("fourParticles", "curve1", "simpleSpring", r=True)

cmds.spring(add=True, noDuplicate=False, minMax=True, mnd=0, mxd=0, useRestLengthPS=True, s=1, d=0.2, sfw=1, efw=1)

cmds.playbackOptions(e=True, min=0.00, max=600.0)
cmds.currentTime(0, e=True)
cmds.play(wait=True, forward=True)
```
### Plugin Code
```python
import maya.OpenMaya as OpenMaya
import maya.OpenMayaMPx as OpenMayaMPx

kPluginNodeTypeName = "spSimpleSpring"
spSimpleSpringNodeId = OpenMaya.MTypeId(0x80044)

class simpleSpring(OpenMayaMPx.MPxSpringNode):
    aSpringFactor = OpenMaya.MObject()

    def __init__(self):
        OpenMayaMPx.MPxSpringNode.__init__(self)
        self.__myFactor = 0.0

    def compute(self, plug, block):
        """
        In this simple example, do nothing in this method. But get the
        spring factor here for "applySpringLaw" to compute output force.

        Note: always let this method return "kUnknownParameter" so that
        "applySpringLaw" can be called when Maya needs to compute spring force.
        """
        pass
```
### Notes
- The plugin defines a node type named "spSimpleSpring" with a unique ID.
- The compute method is intentionally left empty; it should return "kUnknownParameter" to allow the spring law to be applied.
