Example URL for a translated version of the documentation, using the language code in the path.

### Launchpad URL handler plugin example

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins.html

Example of a URL handler plugin that matches Launchpad bug references and returns the corresponding bug URL. Inherits from plugin.URLHandler, includes 'url_handler' in capabilities, sets a unique handler_name, and implements callback().

```python
class LaunchpadBugURLHandler(plugin.URLHandler):
  capabilities = ['url_handler']
  handler_name = 'launchpad_bug'
  match = '\\b(lp|LP):?\s?#?[0-9]+(,\s*#?[0-9]+)*\\b'
  def callback(self, url):
    for item in re.findall(r'[0-9]+', url):
      return('https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/%s' % item)
```

### Launch 100 GNOME-Terminal instances

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Commands to start a single GNOME-Terminal and then launch 100 more in a loop, used for the memory comparison test.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ gnome-terminal &
idiot@village:~$ for i in {1..100} ; do gnome-terminal & done
```

--------------------------------

### Basic plugin structure example

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins.html

Shows the minimal structure of a Terminator plugin: import terminatorlib.plugin, define an 'available' list, and create a class derived from a base plugin class.

```python
import terminatorlib.plugin as plugin
available = ['myfirstplugin']
class myfirstplugin(plugin.SomeBasePluginClass):
  # etc.
```

### Launch 100 Terminator GTK2 instances

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Commands to start a single Terminator with a deleteme config and then launch 100 more in a loop, used for the memory comparison test.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ terminator -g deletemeconfig &
idiot@village:~$ for i in {1..100} ; do terminator -g deletemeconfig -u & done
```

--------------------------------

### Install sphinx and theme packages

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/gettinginvolved.html

Command to install sphinx and the sphinx_rtd_theme package on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. This installs sphinx, the theme, and its dependencies.

```bash
sudo apt-get install python-sphinx python-sphinx-rtd-theme
```

### Cold start benchmark for GNOME-Terminal

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Measures the time to launch a single GNOME-Terminal instance after clearing caches. The output shows a real time of 0m7.628s with a noted variance between 5 and 9 seconds.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ time gnome-terminal --profile=Quickexit
real    0m7.628s (approx median, there was a strange variance for GT, between 5 and 9 secs)
```

--------------------------------

### Connect to debug server via telnet

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/advancedusage.html

After starting a debug server with -dd, search debug output for 'listening on' to find the port, then connect using telnet localhost <port>.

```bash
$ telnet localhost <port>
```

--------------------------------

### Run command then drop to bash

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/preferences.html

Use this command to run an application and then start a new bash shell after it ends. The semicolon separates the commands, but the second bash will not inherit environment variables or return codes from the first.

```bash
bash -ic <command>; bash
```

### Language code examples for translation

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/gettinginvolved.html

Examples of i18n language codes used for translating the manual. The folder name should be manual-gtk3-<LANG>, where <LANG> is one of these codes.

```text
pt            - Portugese
pt_BR         - Brazilian Portugese
ca            - Catalan
ca@valencia   - Catalan (Dialect specific to Valencia?)
```

### CustomCommandsMenu plugin example

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins.html

A simplified example of a Terminator plugin that adds a context menu item. It uses the plugin.MenuItem base class with the 'terminal_menu' capability, and the Config API to load and store plugin configuration. The callback method receives a list of menu items, the menu object, and the terminal, and appends a new menu item.

```python
import terminatorlib.plugin as plugin
from terminatorlib.config import Config
available = ['CustomCommandsMenu']
class CustomCommandsMenu(plugin.MenuItem):
  capabilities = ['terminal_menu']
  config = None
  def __init__(self):
    self.config = Config()
    myconfig = self.config.plugin_get_config(self.__class__.__name__)
    # Now extract valid data from sections{}
  def callback(self, menuitems, menu, terminal):
    menuitems.append(gtk.MenuItem('some jazz'))
```

### Launch 100 Terminator GTK2 instances

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Launches 100 Terminator instances with a temporary config file and without user config, in the background.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ for i in {1..100} ; do terminator -g deletemeconfig -u & done
```

--------------------------------

### Run mutt as a custom command

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/preferences.html

Use 'bash -c mutt' to run mutt, but note it creates a non-interactive session and may not work as expected.

```bash
bash -c mutt
```

--------------------------------

### Launch 100 GNOME-Terminal instances

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Launches 100 GNOME-Terminal instances in the background using a for loop. This is the 'dumb way' to test memory usage.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ for i in {1..100} ; do gnome-terminal --disable-factory & done
```

--------------------------------

### Default documentation URL

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/gettinginvolved.html

The default URL opened by the Help shortcut when only one language is available.

```text
http://terminator-gtk3.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html
```

### Cold start benchmark for Terminator

Source: https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html

Measures the time to launch a single Terminator instance after clearing caches. The output shows GTK2 real time of 0m11.390s and GTK3 real time of 0m11.264s.

```bash
idiot@village:~$ time terminator -g deletemeconfig -p Quickexit
GTK2: real    0m11.390s (median of 3x)
GTK3: real    0m11.264s (median of 3x)
