### Manual BG Disk Installation (Linux)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Manually combine BG floppy disk files on Linux using the 'cat' command. This bypasses the installer.

```bash
cat u7disk00 + U7disk01 + u7disk02 > u7disk00.zip
```

--------------------------------

### Manual BG Disk Installation (Windows)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Manually combine BG floppy disk files on Windows using the 'copy /b' command to create zip archives. This bypasses the installer.

```batch
copy /b u7disk00 + U7disk01 + u7disk02 u7disk00.zip
```

```batch
copy /b u7disk10 + u7disk11 + u7disk12 u7disk10.zip
```

```batch
copy /b u7disk20 + u7disk21 u7disk20.zip
```

--------------------------------

### Extract GOG Ultima VII BG Installer (Linux)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Use innoextract on Linux to extract files from the GOG Windows installer for Ultima VII: The Black Gate. Specify the output directory for the Forge of Virtue add-on.

```bash
innoextract -L -d /usr/share/exult/forgeofvirtue -e "path to GOG UltimaVII BG installer/setup_ultima_vii_-_the_black_gate_1.0_(22309).exe"
```

--------------------------------

### Installing Add-Ons with DOSBox

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Install game add-ons (FoV/SS) using DOSBox. This command mounts the floppy drive or an image. You may need to rename 'usecode.new' to 'usecode' after installation if a DOSBox bug occurs.

```dos
mount c C:\Games
mount a a:\ -t floppy
a:
install
```

```dos
imgmount a /path/fov.img -t floppy
```

--------------------------------

### Extract GOG Ultima VII SI Installer (Linux)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Use innoextract on Linux to extract files from the GOG Windows installer for Ultima VII: Serpent Isle. Specify the output directory for the Silver Seed add-on.

```bash
innoextract -L -d /usr/share/exult/silverseed -e "path to GOG Ultima VII SI installer/setup_ultima_vii_-_serpent_isle_1.0_(22309).exe"
```

--------------------------------

### iOS Game Folder Structure with Mods

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Include mods by adding them to the respective game's folder structure before transferring. This example shows the structure for the BG keyring and SI fixes mods.

```text
game
+-- blackgate
| +--- static
| +---- *.*
| +--- mods
| +---- keyring
| +----- *.*
| +---- keyring.cfg
+-- serpentisle
| +--- static
| +---- *.*
| +--- mods
| +---- sifixes
| +----- *.*
| +---- sifixes.cfg
```

--------------------------------

### Mounting Floppy Drive in DOSBox

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Use this command to mount a physical floppy drive in DOSBox for game installation. Ensure the drive letter 'a' is available.

```dos
mount c C:\Games
mount a a:\ -t floppy
a:
install
```

--------------------------------

### Create Exult Game Directories (macOS)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Create necessary directories for Exult game data on macOS using sudo for elevated privileges. This is required before copying game files.

```bash
sudo mkdir -p "/Library/Application Support/Exult/blackgate"
```

```bash
sudo mkdir -p "/Library/Application Support/Exult/serpentisle"
```

--------------------------------

### iOS Game Folder Structure

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Prepare game files by organizing them into a 'game' folder with specific subdirectories for each game. Ensure all file and folder names are lowercase for compatibility with iOS.

```text
game
+-- blackgate
| +--- static
| +---- *.*
+-- serpentisle
| +--- static
| +---- *.*
```

--------------------------------

### Exult Configuration File Structure

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

The exult.cfg file uses an XML-like syntax to configure Exult settings. Settings are hierarchical and apply across all operating systems unless otherwise specified.

```xml
</save_compression_level>
<data_path> data
</data_path>
<music_path> data/music
</music_path>
```bash
copy sidisk00 sidisk00.zip

```
```bash
copy /b sidisk10 + sidisk11 + sidisk12 + sidisk13 sidisk10.zip

```
```bash
copy /b sidisk20 + sidisk21 + sidisk22 sidisk20.zip

```
```bash
copy /b sidisk30 + sidisk31 sidisk30.zip

```
```bash
copy sidisk40 sidisk40.zip

```
--------------------------------
### Copy GOG Ultima VII BG Game Files (macOS)
Source: https://exult.info/docs.html
```bash
sudo cp -p -R "/Applications/Ultima VII™ - The Black Gate + The Forge of Virtue.app/Contents/Resources/game/STATIC" "/Library/Application Support/Exult/blackgate"
```
--------------------------------
### Copy GOG Ultima VII SI Game Files (macOS)
```

--------------------------------

### Unzip SI Floppy Disks (Windows)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Extract Serpent Isle game files from zip archives to the specified directory using pkunzip. Ensure all necessary executables and configuration files are also copied.

```bash
pkunzip -d -e sidisk00.zip C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
pkunzip -d -e sidisk10.zip C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
pkunzip -d -e sidisk20.zip C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
pkunzip -d -e sidisk30.zip C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
pkunzip -d -e sidisk40.zip C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
copy *.exe C:\Games\SERPENT
```

```bash
copy install.prm C:\Games\SERPENT
```

--------------------------------

### Mounting Floppy Images in DOSBox

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Mount multiple floppy disk images as a virtual floppy drive in DOSBox. This is useful when physical drives are unavailable. Use 'Ctrl+F4' to switch between images when prompted.

```dos
mount c C:\Games
imgmount a /path/bg-1.img /path/bg-2.img /path/bg-3.img /path/bg-4.img /path/bg-5.img /path/bg-6.img -t floppy
a:
install
```

```dos
imgmount a /path/si-1.img /path/si-2.img /path/si-3.img /path/si-4.img /path/si-5.img /path/si-6.img /path/si-7.img -t floppy
```

--------------------------------

### Concatenate Floppy Disk Files (Linux)

Source: https://exult.info/docs.html

Combine multiple floppy disk files into a single zip archive using the 'cat' command on Linux systems. This is an alternative to the Windows 'copy /b' command.

```bash
cat sidisk10 sidisk11 sidisk12 sidisk13 >sidisk10.zip
```
