### MUGEN CtrlSet Controller Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

An example of the MUGEN CtrlSet controller, which modifies the control flag for player 1. It demonstrates how to activate the controller at the start of a state and set the control value to true.

```plaintext
[State 300, 1] ;State 300. 1 is just an arbitrary number.
type = CtrlSet ;Changes the control flag.
trigger1 = Time = 0
value = 1
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen Move Type Parameter Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Shows an example of setting the movetype parameter in Mugen to 'A' for an attacking state.

```mugen
movetype = A
```

### Basic HitDef Controller Setup

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial4

This snippet shows the basic setup for a HitDef controller within a MUGEN character's state definition. It includes essential parameters like 'type', 'trigger1', 'attr', and 'damage' to enable a basic attack with defined hit properties.

```MUGEN
[StateDef 200]
anim = 200
ctrl = 0
type = S
movetype = A   ;*** Add this line ***
physics = S
velset = 0,0
;*** Add this new block ***
[State 200, HitDef]
type = HitDef
trigger1 = Time = 0    ;Activate at time = 0 (start of state)
attr = S, NA           ;Attributes of the HitDef (explained later)
damage = 30            ;Damage points to deal
;*** End of new block ***
[State 200, 1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 0
ctrl = 1
```

--------------------------------

### MUGEN Avoiding Warnings: Checking Helper Existence

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates how to prevent warnings from redirecting to nonexistent targets, like helpers. The first example shows a direct redirection that would cause a warning if helper 1234 does not exist. The second example shows how to pre-check for the helper's existence using `numhelper()` to avoid the warning.

```mugenscript
trigger1 = helper(1234), time > 20
```

```mugenscript
trigger1 = numhelper(1234) > 0
trigger1 = helper(1234), time > 20
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen StateDef and ChangeState Controller Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

An example of a Mugen StateDef block and a ChangeState controller. The ChangeState controller is used to transition the player to a different state, and the 'ctrl' parameter can modify the player's control flag during the state change.

```mugen
[Statedef 200]
type = S
physics = S
movetype = I
ctrl = 0
anim = 200
velset = 0
[State 200, 1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 0
ctrl = 1
```

--------------------------------

### MUGEN PosAdd Controller Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Illustrates the MUGEN PosAdd controller, used to modify player 1's position. This example shows how to add 10 pixels to the x-coordinate when specific animation elements are active, using multiple triggers.

```plaintext
[State 300, 2]
type = PosAdd ;Adds to P1's position
trigger1 = AnimElem = 2 ;Trigger on 2nd element.
trigger2 = AnimElem = 3 ;Trigger on 3rd element.
x = 10
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen State Type Parameter Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates how to define the state type for a character in Mugen. This example sets the state type to 'C' for crouching.

```mugen
type = C
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen State Controller Optimization Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates how multiple, similar state controllers can be consolidated into a single, more efficient controller by adjusting trigger conditions and using arithmetic for state changes.

```mugencode
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = command = "a"
trigger1 = power < 1000
value = 3000
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = command = "a"
trigger1 = power >= 1000
value = 3001
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = command = "a"
trigger1 = power >= 2000
value = 3002
```

```mugencode
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = command = "a"
value = 3000 + (power >= 1000) + (power >= 2000)
```

--------------------------------

### Example Mugen State Definition and Controller

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

This snippet demonstrates a basic Mugen state, including the Statedef section to define the state's properties and a State controller to manage behavior, such as changing to a different state based on animation time.

```mugen
[Statedef 200]
type = S
physics = S
movetype = I
ctrl = 0
anim = 200
velset = 0
[State 200, 1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 0
ctrl = 1
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen Trigger Logic Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

This C-like notation illustrates the logical evaluation and short-circuiting of MUGEN triggers, showing how triggeralls and subsequent trigger blocks are evaluated sequentially.

```plaintext
triggerall,1 && triggerall,2 && ... && ((trigger1,1 && trigger1,2
  && ...) || (trigger2,1 && trigger2,2 && ...) || ... )
```

--------------------------------

### MUGEN Avoiding Warnings: Using Cond for Safe Redirection

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Shows how the `Cond` trigger can be used to safely access properties of a potentially nonexistent helper. This example retrieves the life of helper 1234 if it exists, otherwise it returns the player's life, preventing errors and warnings.

```mugenscript
Cond(numhelper(1234) > 0, (helper(1234), life), life)
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen Complex Trigger Factoring Example

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Shows an example of simplifying a complex logical trigger condition by factoring out common subexpressions and using the assignment operator (:=) to store intermediate results in a variable.

```mugencode
trigger1 = (command="abc" && command!="holddown" && power>=1000) ||
           (command="abc" && command!="holddown" && var(5)) ||
           ((command != "abc" || command = "holddown") && power>=2000)
```

```mugencode
trigger1 = (var(0):=(command="abc" && command !="holddown") && power>=
         1000) || (var(0) && var(5)) || (!var(0) && power>=2000)
```

--------------------------------

### Color Addition/Subtraction in Mugen

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/air

Explains the use of 'A' for color addition and 'S' for color subtraction, placed at the 7th position. It shows examples with and without flip parameters.

```mugen
15,4, 0,0, 5, ,A   ;<-- Color addition (flip parameter omitted)
15,4, 0,0, 5, H, S ;<-- Flips horizontally and does color subtraction
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen Expression Example with Interval Operators

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates a Mugen expression involving equality and interval operators, showing how they are evaluated step-by-step.

```Mugen Expression
1.0 = (2 = (1 > 0) + !(0 < 1))
```

### Implement Opponent Falling in Mugen HitDef

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial4

This code example shows how to make an opponent fall to the ground after being hit by setting the 'fall' parameter to 1 in a HitDef state. This is crucial for initiating juggle states and controlling the opponent's recovery. It's often used with specific ground velocities to ensure a proper fall animation.

```Mugen
[State 200, HitDef]
type = HitDef
trigger1 = Time = 0
attr = S, NA
damage = 30
guardflag = MA
pausetime = 12,12
hitsound = 5,0
guardsound = 6,0
sparkxy = 0,-70
animtype = Medium
ground.type = High
ground.slidetime = 10
ground.hittime  = 12
ground.velocity = -1,-7;*** Modify this line ***
air.velocity = -2,-3
fall = 1               ;*** Add this line ***
```

--------------------------------

### Group Definition Example in CNS

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates how groups are defined in a CNS file. Groups are blocks of text starting with '[groupname]' and ending before the next group. Parameters within a group can be in any order.

```plaintext
[Foo]
line1
line2
[Group 2]
more lines
```

```plaintext
[SomeGroup]
value1 = 1234
value2 = "A string"
```

```plaintext
[SomeGroup]
value2 = "A string"
value1 = 1234
```

### Mugen State Controller: VarSet with Always-True Condition and Function-Type Trigger

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

This example shows a 'VarSet' controller where 'trigger1 = 1' is an always-true condition-type trigger, causing the controller to execute every frame. The 'value = time + 5' uses the function-type trigger 'time' to get the player's statetime, adds 5, and stores the result in 'var0'.

```mugen
[State 1234, 5]
type = VarSet
trigger1 = 1
v = 0
value = time + 5
```

### Create Basic Attack State Definition (.cns)

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial3

This code defines a new state (state 200) for the character in the player.cns file. It links the state to animation action 200 and sets up a controller to return to the standing state (state 0) once the animation finishes.

```mugencns
; Every state must begin with a StateDef group. Right now, we have one
; parameter in the StateDef, the "anim" parameter. This signals M.U.G.E.N to
; change the player to animation action 200 at the start of the state.
[StateDef 200]
anim = 200
; This next group is called a controller. Besides the StateDef, a state is
; made up of one or more controllers. Controllers are instructions on what
; to do at what times. "What to do" is the "type" of the controller, and
; "at what times" is called the "trigger condition". In this case, the
; trigger is "AnimTime = 0". This means "when the current animation action
; has ended". The type is "ChangeState", with a value of 0. So this whole
; controller means "change back to state 0 (standing state) when the
; current animation action has ended".
[State 200, 1]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 0
```

--------------------------------

### ChangeAnim Controller

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

Changes the player's current animation to a specified action number. An optional element number can be provided to start from a specific frame within that animation.

```mugen
; Example usage is not provided in the documentation.
; Parameters:
; value (int): The action number to change to.
; elem (int): The element number within the action to start from.
```

--------------------------------

### HitDef Controller with Knockback Parameters

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial4

This configuration enhances the HitDef controller with parameters for 'ground.type', 'ground.slidetime', 'ground.hittime', 'ground.velocity', and 'air.velocity'. These settings determine the opponent's knockback behavior on both ground and in the air, creating a more impactful attack.

```MUGEN
[State 200, HitDef]
type = HitDef
trigger1 = Time = 0
attr = S, NA
damage = 30
guardflag = MA
pausetime = 12,12
hitsound = 5,0
guardsound = 6,0
sparkxy = 0,-70
ground.type = High     ;*** Add this line ***
ground.slidetime = 10  ;*** Add this line ***
ground.hittime  = 12   ;*** Add this line ***
ground.velocity = -5   ;*** Add this line ***
air.velocity = -2,-3   ;*** Add this line ***
```

--------------------------------

### Face Opponent

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Rotates the player to face the opponent at the start of the state if necessary. A value of '1' enables this feature. The default value is '0' (off) if omitted.

```mugen
facep2 = 1
```

--------------------------------

### HitDef Controller with Timing and Sound

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial4

This HitDef controller configuration includes additional parameters for 'pausetime', 'hitsound', 'guardsound', and 'sparkxy'. These control the duration of hit stun, the sounds played on hit and guard, and the position of the visual spark effect.

```MUGEN
[State 200, HitDef]
type = HitDef
trigger1 = Time = 0
attr = S, NA
damage = 30
pausetime = 12,12      ;*** Add this line ***
hitsound = 5,0         ;*** Add this line ***
guardsound = 6,0       ;*** Add this line ***
sparkxy = 0,-70        ;*** Add this line ***
```

### Mugen Trigger Example: Invalid Expression

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates an invalid expression in a Mugen trigger argument. Old-style function-type triggers cannot directly take expressions as arguments, leading to errors.

```Mugen
trigger1 = AnimElem = (1+1)
```

--------------------------------

### Set Velocity (VelSet)

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

Sets the player's velocity to specified values. Positive x velocity is forward, positive y velocity is downward. Both x and y velocity settings are optional.

```Mugen
type = VelSet
x = _x_value_
y = _y_value_
```

--------------------------------

### Define New Attack Animation Action (.air)

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial3

This snippet shows how to define a new animation action for a character's attack in the player.air file. It specifies the sprites and frames involved in the attack animation.

```mugenaction
;New attack
[Begin Action 200]
200,0, 0,0, 2
200,1, 0,0, 3
200,2, 0,0, 5
200,1, 0,0, 4
200,0, 0,0, 3
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen Trigger Example: Operator Precedence with Old-Style Triggers

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Illustrates how operator precedence is not applicable within old-style Mugen function-type trigger clauses. Clauses are treated as single units, affecting expression evaluation.

```Mugen
trigger1 = AnimElem = 5 + 4
```

--------------------------------

### Mugen HitDef Controller Parameters Explained

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Details on configuring the HitDef controller in Mugen. Explains the 'trigger1' for activation, 'attr' for attack type (Standing, Crouching, Aerial; Normal, Special, Hyper; Attack, Throw, Projectile), and 'animtype' for the hit animation.

```mugen
type = HitDef
trigger1 = AnimElem = 2
attr = S, NA
animtype  = Light
damage    = 10
```

--------------------------------

### HitAdd Controller - Add to Combo Counter

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

The HitAdd controller is used to increase the current combo counter by a specified integer value. It requires one parameter, 'value', to define the number of hits to add. There are no optional parameters or examples provided for this controller.

```Mugen Script
; Adds 5 to the current combo counter
value = 5
```

--------------------------------

### MUGEN State Definition: Overriding Common States (Running Example)

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Demonstrates overriding the default running state (state 100) in MUGEN to create a dash-like forward movement. It defines custom physics, animation, and velocity settings for the new state.

```MUGEN
; RUN_FWD (overridden to dash-type)
[Statedef 100]
type    = S   ;Running is on the ground
physics = N   ;We'll define our own physics
anim = 100    ;Anim action 100
ctrl = 0      ;No control for duration of dash
[State 100, 1] ;To start dashing forwards
type = VelSet
trigger1 = Time = [0,5]
x = 6
[State 100, 2] ;Friction after initial dash
type = VelMul
trigger1 = Time > 5
x = .85
[State 100, 3] ;
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 0
ctrl = 1
```

--------------------------------

### Generate SFF File using sprmake2

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/tutorial1

This command-line instruction generates the M.U.G.E.N. sprite file (.sff) from a definition file. It requires the sprmake2 executable to be in the M.U.G.E.N. directory and the definition file (e.g., player-sff.def) to be correctly formatted. This command processes the definition file to create the final .sff asset.

```bash
sprmake2 work\player\player-sff.def
```

--------------------------------

### Offset Controller Configuration (Mugen)

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

Changes the player's display offset, shifting the player from their axis. It accepts optional 'x' and 'y' float values to specify the horizontal and vertical offsets respectively. If no parameters are provided, the offset remains unchanged.

```Mugen
type = Offset
x = 10
y = -5
```

--------------------------------

### Set Player Velocity

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Sets the player's velocity at the beginning of a state. The format is a number pair (x velocity, y velocity). Omitting this line leaves velocity unchanged. For example, `velset = 4,-8` moves the player diagonally up and forward.

```mugen
velset = 4,-8
```

### Mugen Animation Action with Collision Boxes

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

An example of a Mugen animation action definition including collision boxes. 'Clsn1' defines attack hitboxes, and 'Clsn2' defines hurtboxes. Multiple Clsn2 boxes can be defined for different frames, and Clsn2Default can be used for subsequent frames.

```mugen
[Begin Action 200]
Clsn2: 1
  Clsn2[0] = -10,0, 10,-80
200,0, 0,0, 3
Clsn1: 1
  Clsn1[0] =  10,-70, 40,-60
Clsn2: 2
  Clsn2[0] = -10,  0, 10,-80
  Clsn2[1] =  10,-70, 40,-60
200,1, 0,0, 4
Clsn2Default: 1 ;Use this box for the last two frames
  Clsn2[0] = -10,0, 10,-80
200,2, 0,0, 4
200,3, 0,0, 3
```

--------------------------------

### ChangeAnim2 Controller

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

Similar to ChangeAnim, but specifically designed for changing Player 2's animation when Player 1 has placed Player 2 in a custom state (e.g., during throws). This allows Player 2 to use animations defined in Player 1's air file.

```mugen
; This controller is context-specific and requires specific game state setup.
; Parameters are similar to ChangeAnim but applied to Player 2.
```

--------------------------------

### State Change Parameters

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

### Mugen Trigger Redirection Example: Parent Time

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

This code demonstrates trigger redirection in Mugen. The expression '5 + (parent, time)' redirects the 'time' trigger to access the statetime of the player's parent, rather than the player itself. This is useful when a player is a helper and needs to reference its parent's state.

```mugen
5 + (parent, time)
```

### Fall Environment Shake Controller

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

Triggers a screen shake effect based on fall.envshake parameters defined in an attack. This controller is effective only if GetHitVar(fall.envshake.time) is not zero and sets it to zero upon execution. Primarily used for player fall animations.

```MUGEN Configuration
; Used in conjunction with HitDef controller
type = FallEnvShake
```

### Set Screen Color with EnvColor

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls

EnvColor sets the entire screen to a solid color, excluding foreground animations. It allows specification of RGB color components (0-255), display duration in ticks, and whether the color should appear above or below characters and projectiles.

```Mugen
type = EnvColor
value = 255,255,255 ; R, G, B components
time = 60 ; Duration in ticks
under = 0 ; 0 for above characters, 1 for below
```

### MUGEN Trigger Condition with 'bottom' evaluation

Source: https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/cns

Shows how a ChangeState controller is affected by an expression evaluating to 'bottom'. Condition-type triggers treat 'bottom' as 0, preventing the trigger from firing. This example illustrates that if no helpers exist, the condition 'helper, statetype = A' becomes 'bottom' (0), and the ChangeState controller is not executed.

```mugenscript
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = helper, statetype = A
value = 0
```
