# Analytics

> Understand visitors, searches, assistant questions, and referrers

Analytics reports how people use your Docs7 site. Open **Docs7**, choose a site, then select **Analytics**.

Choose a 7, 30, or 90 day window. If the site has branch previews, you can include their traffic. Preview traffic is excluded by default.

## Visitors and views

Docs7 records a page view for a document navigation from a browser after filtering known AI crawlers and generic bots.

| Metric | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Visitors** | Privacy-preserving daily visitor identifiers in the selected window. |
| **Views** | Document page views in the selected window. |
| **Country** | The countries with the most visitors. |
| **Visitor activity** | Visitors or views plotted by day. |

Visitor identifiers are derived from the day, site, IP address, and user agent, then stored as a hash. Docs7 does not store the raw IP address. Because the identifier changes daily, the same browser can count again on a later day.

## Searches

The search report shows what readers type into the site's search box, how many times each query was used, and how many visitors searched for it.

Search runs as the reader types. Docs7 folds short prefixes into the completed query when the same visitor continues typing within ten seconds. For example, `rate`, `rate l`, and `rate limit` count as `rate limit` instead of three separate searches.

A **No results** label means every recorded search for that term returned no result. Use these terms to find missing pages, missing vocabulary, or titles that do not match the words readers use.

## Assistant questions

This report covers questions visitors send to the documentation assistant. It shows the total number of questions and conversations.

Questions are grouped into topics once per day. Expand a topic to see recent examples. Questions that have not been grouped yet appear under **Uncategorized**.

## Top pages and referrers

**Top pages** ranks documentation paths by visitors and views. **Referrers** shows where visitors came from. Requests without a referrer are grouped under **Direct**.

Use Top pages to see what readers rely on, then compare it with Searches and Assistant questions. A frequently requested topic with no strong destination page is a concrete documentation gap.
